Mike Kaye: LB Devin Lloyd could be a realistic possibility

Mike Kaye was on the radio this morning and said that if he had to say we go after it could be Devin Lloyd. Said he fits age and scheme we’re looking for. Man that’s who I would like to go after.

Lloyd and a solid edge would do absolute wonders for our defense.

Lloyd was down in tackles this year. Career low. Anyone know what that’s about?
 

I looked right after lunch. 85, 87 something g like that. Where he had been over a 100 all other years.  
 

He had 5 picks I think I saw if I read it right.

He had 4 INTS and 8 QB hits his first 3 years then had 5 INTs and 10 QB hits last year alone. Looks like they changed his role a little.

The Panthers' linebacking corps failed to produce a single player with a PFF overall grade above 55.0 in 2025. Adding Chenal to headline the group as the new green-dot communicator would project well for a defense that ranked 23rd in EPA per play allowed this past season.

Because it doesnt make sense tagging middle linebackers when the formula takes in to account the salaries of OLBs

Getting a pass rush with 4 is the main priority on defense, but I'll happily take Lloyd to fix ILB.  

A Lloyd and Chenal double dip in FA, and then devoting all high draft picks to the edges and fat men would make me happy though.

The question goes back to where they declined to pick up the 5th year. That wasn’t really a decision made because it was cost prohibitive, was it?
They haven’t been real stable organizationally, for a while. But it just seems like that would have been a formality if they were happy with him. So my question would be, why did they decline?
