Lol seriously I couldn’t believe the first handful of replies

Metchie isn’t even guaranteed a roster spot. He’ll be battling with Horn and Moore during camp

Yeah, I don't even think he makes the team when it's all said and done.

Well, we'll see. I think that's kinda preposterous though. Bryce is a three year vet. The thing that will settle him down is stout O-line play and receivers that he can count on.

He's a 3 year vet with what, 5-7 decent games throughout his career?

He's had more than good enough OL play the last 2 seasons to have shown better decision making than he has in that time.  And he had the ROY this past season along with a breakout WR the second half of the season.

Bryce's problems are Bryce's to solve, not improving the roster around him.  And that's not to say we can't still improve the roster around him, but he was the #1 pick, we've given him enough to where he 100% should have shown more with it so far.

It might be hard for receiver John Metchie III to make the team unless he has improved his skill set over the offseason.

Which again, is why he's the wrong guy to bring in if that's the case.

Bring in any one of another couple dozen players with the same abilities, not a friend of Bryce's who is either going to get unwarranted targets and/or frustrate Bryce when/if we end up cutting him.

This is a make or break year for Bryce and this coaching staff.  Don't bring in borderline roster guys when we only have 2 legitimate NFL WRs right now.

If he’s fully recovered from that leukemia he will beat out Horn and Moore easily, he’s the type fit this WR room needs. A small twitch quick guy. He showed some flashes with the jets last year

He's played 3 full seasons since then, if he's not fully recovered from the leukemia, then he shouldn't have been playing the last 3 years.

I'll also be honest that I don't think I've seen any of his Jets highlights, but 256 yards in 9 games and 7 starts, doesn't scream showing flashes to me.

Ehhh, torn on this one, as he's a player I was calling for us to try and trade for early in Bryce's career, to get him a WR he was familiar with from college.

The problem now is I'm afraid he'll want to rely on his college WR too much now, and I don't think he's good enough to be that guy for Bryce.  I was asking us to do that before he hadn't really shown much throughout his career, which unfortunately now he's done (just 686 yards across 3 mostly healthy seasons).

I want that speedy slot WR, but I'd just have preferred it to not be a player who used to be a safety blanket for Bryce, but is significantly lesser of a WR than T-Mac and Coker (and maybe even XL to be honest).

So in such a critical season for Bryce, not sure I love adding a not so great WR he might want to rely on too much.

I wouldnt worry too much about that.  Yea they were teammates but Bryce knows T-mac is his bread and butter and Coker is a reliable guy, this IMO would make him more overlook someone like XL, Jimmy Horn, or Tremayne.  Solid piece and someone he trusts, could be a steal, could be a bust...lets see.

I get it, but the "trust" is my problem.  Would just rather bring in a better player than someone Bryce trusts.

We need a real #3 in the slot, not players who have been on 3 teams in the last 18 months and none of them wanted to keep him around.

Now... if you tell me that the staff is actually 100% sold on Horn Jr being the clear cut slot starter this year, then maybe I'll feel differently.

As that then pushes XL into the #4 (like I want if he's still here), Moore as the #5 (aka special teamer), and then Metchie is just someone to make Bryce comfortable with in camp and fight out Tremayne for the last possible roster spot that wouldn't get a jersey on game days.

I just doubt that's the case given Horn Jr's usage late in the season, didn't scream "we think he can be our #3 next year"

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
