Panthers signing WR John Metchie

I think that's the problem we have with it.

If we're bringing in WRs, they should be a clear cut #3 WR as our starting slot, or they should be a mid round draft pick to see if they can become that guy for us.

Signing a FA like this for that spot just seems odd.  Then personally, I don't like the previous connection with Bryce for a player of this talent level, as I'm afraid Bryce will want to rely on him more than he should, and we can't have anything hindering Bryce this year if he has any chance at panning out (which again, I still don't think can happen, but that's a different discussion).

This feels like a signing due to the Bryce connection, but you make that in year 1 or 2, not going into year 4 when said WR hasn't panned out so far either.

He threw him the ball for 1 season 5 years ago. Y’all are legit crazy lol.

Don't understand ppl getting upset by bottom of the roster moves

Superfan nature, Im tooo old to bitach about some guy that may not even make the roster. I doubt he has a more than min type deal and so what about history with BY.....every team, QB, HC does this. He's just insurance with 1.6% chance to make the roster.

In 2010, I use to complain about 6th and 7th rounders(I did bitach about long snapper over Smith, whom is the highest paid OG.......)

Still its no earth moving deal either way. I hope he does knock Moore off the roster...

It was the season he won the Heisman and Metchie had the best year of his career while being named 2nd team All SEC, not to mention I'm sure they still threw together quite a bit his Freshman year when he backed up Mac Jones.

We're not talking about some 400 yard season, they had a real connection that year.

He's been a teammate with Metchie longer than he's been with T-Mac and for the same amount of time as Coker and XL.  Sure, it was a few years back, but these guys also remain friends with former college teammates, so he still could have a better relationship with Metchie than any of our current WRs due to the longevity.

There is no way we're signing Metchie if not for the Bryce connection, so to dismiss it like that is the crazy thing.

I know what XL is currently.. but I feel like I'm the only one here that wants XL to succeed.

I still pull for him to wake up and get with the program. He has made some good catches that get overlooked in all the noise.

I don’t know how deep a hole he dug himself with the staff. It may be already decided that he doesn’t fit.

So:

1. McMillan

2. Coker

3. Legette

4. Tremayne

5. Metchie

6. Horn

7. Moore

8. Likely draft pick (depending what round)

Yeah Legette is gone. Dan isn’t parting with Tremayne, too good of blocker, and Canales isn’t parting with Moore.

I am putting Horn over Metchie, who hasn’t done squat in 3 seasons except bounce around.

After 3 I wasn’t really ranking them cause they will likely draft a WR and who really knows how Canales rotates those outside the Top 3.

A lot of negativities about this signing. Everyone knows TMAC and Coker are our top receivers.  Having someone you're familiar with is not a bad thing.

If he pans out, we have a good top three.  It's not like we broke the bank to bring him here.  Let's see what comes of it before we start assuming.

Metchie had a great year when Bryce won the heisman.  He gives the Panthers some deep options.  He does not have to catch passes if he can keep the safeties honest, but I expect him to post his highest numbers here.  I imagine he is signing for vet min, and probably was coerced by Bryce.

I have not given up on XL like some here, but I am frustrated and pissed off about his play.

I now doubt we draft a WR, but there are so many uncertainties (Coker's health, XL's play, Metchie, etc).

I mean that deep and time for competition.... I feel this is like the Brenton Bersin deal, the team needs to field a roster in which bersin doesn't make the roster. That goes for Moore, the team needs to bring in enough talent so Moore is cut..

Its nice to have a deep WR room after years of Mcnutt and dj Clark and 74 year old Adam was the best WR clearly.

This draft has 10 WRs in the top 50 on many smart players boards, so.......... cue the BPA peeps
