Nah. We just recognize that he has more potential than Dalton or Pickett. Do I think he could come in and potentially push Bryce. Sure. Not because he's a QB god but because Bryce really is that bad as a starting QB.

Not sure what you mean by potential. Dalton was once a top 10 QB who is washed. So sure, no potential I guess. Howell is on his 5th team ln 4 years. That's a lot of looks.  We'll have to agree to disagree on what his prospects are.

Why? Feel free to check my post history. I've never argued Pickett was a hidden gem.  I assume he sucks, but is some degree better than today's Dalton.

We interviewed Robertson out of Baylor.  Hope we draft him late and he earns backup.

There is one QB on the Sam Darnold track though, if there is one: Justin Fields. Top 10(ish) pick drafted to a bad situation, 3 years on the team that drafted them then traded to another bad situation, spend 2 more seasons in bad qb situations, then goes to a team with a QB guru coach and WB friendly offense to be a backup. The equivalent of Darnold’s Minnesota season would be next season for Fields. We’ll see.

The main thing Field’s has impressed me with is his attitude after leading Pittsburgh to a winning record and being sat down because Wilson was healthy. He handled it like a man. A pro. I wasn’t sure he would.

I don’t know about his actual quarterbacking potential having any real chance to parallel Darnold’s progress.
