2025 Draft Re-Grades (Or, One Idiot Doubles Down)

Let me preface this by saying I've read WalterFootball on and off for 20 years. That's an indictment on my decision-making, and it's more than fair to be questioned. 

However, the days of reading what's become weak ragebait have drawn to a close after he re-graded the 2025 NFL Draft's first round. He gave T-Mac a C on draft night. What was his re-grade for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year? 

Carolina Panthers: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona – C Grade
One-Year Grade: C+ Grade

Tetairoa McMillan won Offensive Rookie of the Year, but only by default after Emeka Egbuka vanished in the second half of the season. McMillan was good, and was certainly limited by Bryce Young’s mediocrity, but there are still concerns about his work ethic and passion for football. If he doesn’t progress in the coming years, we’ll know why.

Wow, our Panthers source did not pan out for once. Jalon Walker was heavy chalk to go here, but the Panthers decided to draft a No. 1 receiver instead. While this fills a need, I’m concerned with Tetairoa McMillan’s work ethic, which is something you never want to hear from a first-round prospect, especially one who is chosen in the top 10. Bryce Young needs this, and McMillan is talented, but will he give 100 percent at the next level? Also, what about the defense, which was the worst in the NFL last year?

If you read through his stuff, he's had a raging hate-boner for the Carolina Panthers the likes of which would make many long-tenured Huddlers blush. Every win was "yeah but" and every loss was "see I told you so".

Oh yeah, that's the guy who still insists on calling the Commanders the "Redskins".  I'm truly shocked by this dumbass take of his.

Even if TMac only won OROTY "by default" because Egbuka tanked down the stretch, all that means is that if he hadn't, McMillan still would have been an immediate difference maker and one of the best offensive players to come out of the 2025 draft.

Thats IT, the NFL press has chosen to trash the Panthers this off-season. Not falling for this rage-bait BS.

 

Before FA started LLoyd, Walker, and Phillips were in dang near everyones top 15 list with a live brain, some had each in the top 5........ They get two well under the market projections along with other good solid moves. Dan gets philly for a 7th for a guy no-one can believe was worth that low amount. 

Panthers draft results- Nic starter, Fitz 4 GWers, Everyone from horn down had a impact.

Of all the concerns to highlight work ethic and passion for football is as lazy as it gets. All you have to do is watch an interview with him and his rookie highlights to see that is the farthest thing to be concerned about. Now getting him well placed throws on a consistent basis....that's another discussion.

How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out?

That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
