I have a question for the class. How many days 1 starters do you think were in this draft class? Because the conscience out there seems to be less than 10.

TBD

There will end up being mid-rounders who start most of the season throughout the league and as Panthers fans well know just because you're starting doesn't mean you're starter quality. Sometimes you're just the best bad option.

Getting a year ahead of the problem is how the Ravens / Steelers et al remain perennially good.

Some sources are saying he was the top OT available, or OT2 at worst. We just have to be patient because he needs a lot of coaching.

You have to first be good to become perennially good.  I think it's a big assumption to say that we are in a position to start making luxury picks like OT when we have many other positions that have massive room for improvement.

You did be talking a lot about the OT. But you did always leave the door cracked for Proctor or Freeling. I had those guys as my favorites for our pick, but you did leave the door open and provided good in depth content on the OT.

Swag, I didn't love anyone in the first round.  I figured both Proctor and Freeling would be gone.  And I was not really interested in sharing my thoughts as a result--I was trying to read the tea leaves to figure out what Morgan would do and justify my reasons for thinking that.  I see the players at the top (except Proctor and Freeling) as potential guards.  It seems many of these players who are drafted as short-armed OTs end up being kicked inside.  I could not settle on a player I wanted, to be honest. However, in my opinion, Proctor and Freeling were the two who were born to play OT.  They can fix their problems.

Now, if you want to talk round 2, I think there are players I hope we target--ILB is the position I would love to address--but if Hurst (WR) or a Safety is the pick, I would understand.  Gotta be LB.

Bold prediction:  I think Morgan trades up for Rodriguez.  However there are 4 LBs I would take--popcorn time

In the first round I generally hope for a starter or at least a solid contributor. I think we could have drafted a guaranteed starter in thinemann but I like the size and athleticism of freeling. And if we found our new left or right tackle then it’s a win, even if he might not be starting until next year.

dude is going to keep Bryce young from having dudes rip at his arm from behind from a strip sack.

whether its Bryce or another QB down the line, you need to protect his blind side. Freeling has room to grow and an elite LT that will allow our QB to be free of shell shock

The Thienemen love I get, but anyone wanting Lemon I would've been scared to death of that dude. He better be Amon-Ra, because there's a likely equal chance he has someone in his freezer currently.

why do you say that? ive seen several references to this.  is there legit concern he killed someone?

This team started Christian Rozeboom so any linebacker

There are at least 4 in that range that I would love to have--

Allen, Hill, Rod, Golday--

Separate issue---I think the Chiefs hit a home run yesterday.

a safety aint going to help you when your QB is constantly in the dirt. Some positions take priority over others. a franchise LT is something you dont pass up.  you cant scheme your LT out of being abused. Hes got to be an anchor and hes got to he able to move.

It is not a given that Walker beats him out.  Walker would be a great swing T (and so would Freeling for a season--played both sides in college).

Is there some rule that says we have to draft players in the first round from the Carolinas?

Horn, Ickey, XL, Freeling--?

It does seem to come up regularly.
