Exactly, if he's getting past his man, they're going to have to keep a safety deep on his side of the field just in case.  As even if it's like you said, Bryce needs to throw it quickly with a ton of arc, if the defense doesn't keep a safety deep, you can take those shots and his speed will burn you.

I'm talking myself into liking this pick... IF, and it's a big if... Horn Jr or Metchie are able to be that quick twitch guy in the slot for us this year.  If one of them can't adequately fill that role, then I'm going to have wished this was a WR in that mold instead.  But if one of them can be that for us, then I really like this pick and the potential (and sure, part of it is thinking he could be a real weapon with a new QB next year).78

If we have to talk ourselves into liking the pick, then that's a problem.

Chris Brazzell to the Panthers:

6’4” with 4.37 speed

1,017 yards and 9 TDs in 2025

2.30 yards per team pass attempt (WR7)

48.8% of targets = first down or TD (WR6)

Brazzell ran 93.2% of his snaps out wide (highest in class)

15.7 air yards per target (WR4)

Deep, explosive, vertical usage

3.1 YPRR vs zone (WR4)

But 2.05 YPRR vs man (WR25)

but he comes from the Josh Heupel system — where WRs (Hyatt, Tillman, Thornton) feast on wide splits, space, and one-on-one matchups… then struggle to translate

Then the physical concerns:

198 lbs with 9” hands

Adjusted catch radius was 4th lowest in class

41% catch rate on contested throws (WR35 in class)

What I like about this pick is we're removing the excuses for Bryce. We've drafted the 2nd top 10 OT of Bryce's career. We've drafted two 1dt round WRs, and now a 3rd rounder. We've made the investments in the offense. If we're still at or near the bottom of the league offensively it's time to admit it and move on.

Kind of an exaggerated take, no? I think Bryce definitely needs to take another step forward but let's not act like all of those players are playing up to their potential including Bryce.

XL is still probably a bad WR no matter the team and Ickey was an average to below average pass blocking OT before his injury. Still a solid player but I don't believe he was top 10 at his position last year.

All these offensive picks just to field a bottom 10 offense again because our QB sucks lol

as long as Bryce Young is the Qb the team will have to continually invest alot of draft capital & money into the offense

Bryce Young as your Qb  is very expensive in more ways than one ...just saying

.Panthers have alot of youth at WR now & somehow have to figure out how they are going develop all these WR at the same time  w/ Tet ,XL ,J .Coker ,Horn,& now Bazzell

would have much rather went for need in round 3 like a TE ,Center, LB, Saftey

if I am going to develop a player round 3 & beyond is when I start thinking need & development  ...just saying

Takes the top off the defense and with time in the pocket Bryce will get it to him.

Also, his ability keeps the defense from crowding the line of scrimmage and allows us to get the ball to guys in the short/intermediate
