Seriously: Who will get to keep #2? Clausen or Cam?

I think a deal will be hatched behind the scenes between the two of them (probably involving a payment to Cam funny enough) where Clausen will keep the #2 jersey number and Cam will be the one to switch. We all know that Clausen will have no future here when Cam's drafted, but taking the man's job AND his number would just be a little too humiliating.

I vaguely remember reading something about Jerry Richardson saying that no player on the Panthers would ever wear #1, but that might have just been a rumor, I'll try to find the article or interview.

I don't think I've ever heard of a established player giving a rookie his number and I KNOW I've never heard of a player PAYING a rookie to let the Vet keep his number. Cam will probably wear #13 like he did at Florida since #10 like he wore in High School is taken.

No matter how bad he is Clausens not the little b**ch we think he is, and I doubt his ego would let him just bow down to Cam when he gets here, giving Cam his jersey might as well being the same as him saying "Why no Master Cameron I would never think to work out and try hard to be the starter again, the jobs all yours sir! Would you like some more Cammy Cam Juice?"

I'm going out on a limb and suggesting #5, essentially when flipped the opposite of two. Hopefully he'll be a flip of Clausen as well and become a major player for us in time.

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup.
