New York is hopping on the Panthers bandwagon

New York likes football. If the Panthers had beaten the Giants last year you may have gotten a bit of a different reception, but being in a different division it's generally ok. Plus NY is so huge, people from all over live there and follow teams.

I used to go into NYC with a Marino jersey and I was always amused by the dozens of other people wearing them too. 'Course back then, the Jets got blown out by Marino pretty often, so.

consider yourself lucky. i'm a Panther fan from Long Island, NY and nobody has shown any support other than the few Panther fans in my school. They are all just bandwagon Jets/Giants fans that there is gunna be a Subway Super Bowl every year. Good to see that the fanbase is growing, though.

Yeah, not only do people from all over live there, they travel there en masse. I took my wife and children to Manhattan in February and met alot of people, many from abroad, but nary a soul from NYC (who wasn't working).

That said, it's pretty remarkable and encouraging that Panthers gear drew a response from anyone, anywhere at all, other than here. To be sure, no one had anything to say about my Carolina Hurricanes cap when I was in NYC.

My girlfriend and her sister are die hard AU fans and now they will be Panther fans because of Cam. They can still stick it where the sun dont shine fuging Falcon fans.

My daughter just finished her Sophomore year at Auburn. She emailed me as soon as Cam was drafted and said she was a fan... Then she sent me another email two days later When we drafted Ziemba saying she was doubly a fan of the Panthers.

      Bingo. The dude is a baller no doubt and I'd love to have him in a vacuum but like you said he's gonna fetch a haul so the only teams it really makes sense for are teams with an overall good roster who they feel an edge rusher like Crosby would out them over the top in terms of competing for SBs. I'd be looking st teams like the Pats, Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, etc. It wouldn't be shocking to see him moved. He may be more valuable to a rebuilding team in the form of the draft assets he'd fetch than he is on the field. He should still have several more good years in the tank at 28 but by the time the Raiders can reasonably expect to rebuild he's gonna be on the decline.

      Crosby will garner a haul in a trade. I would be reluctant to make that trade because of the following: 1. Our overall roster is awful. We cannot afford to be trading away valuable draft capital. 2. He isn't the best fit(IMO) for the scheme that Evero runs.  I love the player but it would really need to be at a reasonable deal and I think he is likely to garner an unreasonable price if he gets traded.

      In terms of need, EDGE is currently #1. Our pass rush is near league worst levels. However, I don't subscribe to "need" based drafting. BPA all day.  We do need to dramatically upgrade over Scourton, Jones, Wonnum and Umanmielen. That is likely in the running for the NFL's worst two deep. Not saying all those players are bad, but I am saying 100% of those players are 2nd or 3rd stringers.
