I hear ya, but it's hard to justify sitting a guy picked #1 for a whole year. The salary cap probably makes it easier, but it really comes down to whether he is ready or not.

Not disagreeing with you at all, seems pretty unrealistic, but is there any practical reason we couldn't try to sign him (other than we're the Carolina Panthers and that doesn't happen for us)?

Antonio Cromartie-Chris Gamble is our #1 CB. We need the best #2 CB we can get.

We need a Back- up QB who we can get cheap,and knows Chud’s offence.

The question is,

Do we want one: Who can start the first few games till Cam is ready,

and be the 2nd string QB? The answers: Derek Anderson

Or

Do we need a QB who can stand on the side line with a clipboard and mentor Cam, and never enter the game. Clausen can be the back-up behind Cam.

The answer is: Chris Weinke. He has already been mentoring and teaching Cam the the playbook all summer long. Makes since to

sign him to a 1 yr. minimum wage contract.
