Dre Bly still on the market too?

Why haven't we at least brought these guys in for workouts?

They obviously aren't what they used to be....But they could be an upgrade..

bly would have barely been an upgrade over munnerlynn in his prime.

The Panthers secondary made Chad Henne look like Tom Brady last week, and it is obvious that CB is the #1 need on the team now....

And the Panthers run Defense made Reggie Bush look like Barry Sanders. I'm not saying CB is not a pressing need, but don't think preseason game #2 bumped CB to the top of the list over DT... We definitely need to upgrade at both positions

I sense a disturbance in the munnerlyn force .. thou hast provoked my rage? You are saying teh 5'8 cornerback that had 5 tackles in 2 drives last week cannot start ? Watch yourself youngling.

I'll say it: I don't want Munnerlyn starting as our #1 or #2 corner. ;)

I like him but I'd rather he play nickle.

If you look at Rivera's post-practice remarks about Captain; you can kind of tell that while he may be ok with him being the 2nd corner, he really wants to have him in the nickel position. Just the vibe I'm picking up on while reading this..

On cornerback Captain Munnerlyn: It's good to have him on the field. He plays physical. I know people tag him as a small corner, but he's a small guy that plays big. If he continues to play like that, he can be very effective for what we want. He brings a presence for us as far as our nickel, playing the nickel position as well.

On if cornerback is a question mark for the Panthers: I agree. We have a question mark there. Chris (Gamble) has played himself back into shape; he's getting there and he's a guy that we count on to be out on the field and do some things for us. Captain right now is assuming the role as one of the starters, one of the potential starters, and also a guy that could fit for us in the nickel situation. Then we've got a group of young guys that are all fighting for playing time. It is a question for us, and, hopefully, we can get some of those questions answered this weekend.

Notice how he finishes every comment on him with him being a fit at nickel.

The Panthers have already said that they are waiting for final cuts (27 players per team) to address their remaining needs.

Thay have already said that they prefer to build with young players and through the draft.

This team is building for the future and NOT going to the playoffs this year. It makes no sense to give up draft picks or young players for a 30 year old.

    • we probably aren't interested (I would be).  But with the massive improvements on our DL via FA and the draft, the DBs will have an easier job this year
    • Why is it so hard for some people to understand its not about similar styles and one team is better at it than the other. Its about 1 team, us, that isnt even playing their own style and look demoralized from the moment the puck drops and then playing like dogshit. That is all on Rod.
    • Respectfully man if your entire argument is based off of a simple pff score lookup then your argument is severely flawed. There is a reason Mike Jackson signed a two year 10 million dollar deal and Jaycee is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Secondly, I don’t get the comparison to our huge need at pass rush last year. What does our massive and historic lack of talent at rushing the passer have to do with a weakness on this years roster?
