We just finished Week 2 and nearly 20% of our starters are done for the season

2 Pro Bowlers, our top free agent acquisition, and our #2 receiver in a pass-happy offense. And who knows what's going on with Otah. If he goes down, we're past the 20% mark and closing in on 25% of our starters.

This happens every year. Who should we blame? Jerry Richardson for causing the lockout which prevented guys from rehabbing and going through proper offseason conditioning with team docs/trainers? Long time head trainer Ryan Vermillion for being the trainer while all of these injuries happening throughout the years? Or do we blame God for punishing us with bad luck for having a black cat as a mascot?

Welcome to the Carolina Panthers. I know all teams suffer these things, but it seems we get hit more than others. However, we just need to build good depth, which will take time. Green Bay was without a TON of starters last year and still won the Super Bowl. Give the coaches time, but right now, we're thin.

This one. How many years now have we started off the season with injuries to some of our most important players? Steve Smith in 2004 on the season opener, Kris Jenkins in the first week of 2005, Travelle Wharton in 2006 when he was our starting LT, Jake in Week 3 of 2007 when he was off to his best start of his career, Kemo in training camp of 2009 (when our DT depth was already thin), Thomas Davis in mini camps last year, Otah in preseason, and that's not even counting any of Dan Morgan's injuries.

1 Pro Bowler.

The Gettis and Edwards injuries are the caliber every team in the NFL works around.

Losing Beason and Davis is a big blow....especially this early.

Everybody gets injuries- we just follow the Panthers so it seems more. Our luck has been bad this year in that a lot of the injuries have been season-ending, but there are injuries every year to every team. Some are more lucky than others, but it happens.

Packers had like what 15 guys on IR last year, and they lost Nick Collins yesterday.

In 2003, the Panthers lost Mark Fields and Kevin Dyson before the season started, and both were slated to start.

Got to be next man up. Good news is that if Newton plays well, the team has chance.

Not to minimalist the losses, but there is no pity and I don't think anything could have been to prevent of them

Injuries happen. It is a part of the game. Like once stated, look how many people the super bowl winners list last year. If we have people hungry for a chance then we will be ok. Reality is that we are 0-2. Can we turn it around absolutely. We will be fine. Just need more time to gel. Giants went 0-2 then went on a superbowl run. Anything is possible. Everyone is still learning. Eliminate a few mistakes and we will start racking up some wins. Please enough of this Luck sweepstakes, we are ok right now. More games ate still yet to he started. We have to realize that we have a rookie head coach as well. Anyway back to the topic. Don't you all.remember 04 when we lost the most starters and was one game away from the playoffs. We just need others to step up and we will be fine

    • I feel like this trade just lives rent free in people's heads and keeps morphing into different things. First thing is that the rumored trade was for future firsts. They wouldn't have any extra picks in 2023; the firsts would have been for 2024 and 2025. With very few exceptions, NFL GMs don't value picks that far away. You have to have a lot of job security to pull that off. Like Chiefs, Eagles, Rams kinda stability. That's obviously not the case with David Tepper, especially since he'd just fired his head coach. No GM except for like Howie Roseman is going to trade an asset you have now for a future asset you probably get to use.  Second, at the time you'd have to assume these are first rounders late in the first round. Obviously currency is currency and the panthers need young players, but these weren't slam dunk top ten picks. At the end of the day there's one pick that separates a first and second round pick.  Lastly, the only place that ever reported this trade was the Rams. All the reporters just repeated what McVay said and it became gospel. We have no idea how serious the negotiations were, if they ever really happened, if the offer was real, etc. And I personally believe McVay and Sneed are the kind of guys who would make up rumors like that to fug up other teams, mostly because I assume if I've thought of it someone smarter than me has.  I don't know how you'd call it the greatest draft haul of all time. Firsts quickly lose their value the farther out they are and Burns had 16.5 sacks last season. And anyway those picks would probably just been tossed into the burning inferno of the Bryce trade up so it's a moot point anyway.
