So who do you want with our 3rd overall pick?

no way Jon Martin LT from Stanford last until the 18th pick.

that is why I said "or"

then take DT from Clemson. One of them will still be there, but not to be picky.

early reports say a lot of things, by draft day, Martin might be 6th or 26th, the idea is to put more players in your lineup to increase the value of your team.

the idea of drafting Kalil as the second pick to play RT will surely have us in the Super Bowl in one season. Yep, the missing link is a good RT. NOT

Right now, Kalil might possibly be a top 5, but after that, the others will have to shake out.

Guys (tackles)from FL State have been picked to go in first round all the way to third round. That is why I said Martin or someone. It is very fluid at this point. I don't even think Luck is assured of top pick at this point.

I would be astonished if Luck wasn't the top pick at this point honestly. He'd have to look like he has totally fallen apart for the rest of the season.

If we're in position to snag Kalil I think we should. It'd be nice to trade down to get 2 firsts this year, but I think it's more likely we'd end up stockpiling them for next year... and while that isn't a bad plan, it really depends what things look like come draft day as to if we should or not.

Alshon or Blackmon. We can dig out OL in the later rounds. Either of these 2 WR would instantly spread the field and allow Cam to open it up even more.

DT's will be fine. I dont understand how anyone can argue to draft DT when we took 2 this year that haven't been great but then again are rookies. Bringing in more rookies will solve nothing. Add a DT vet for depth, get a few guys back from injury. We will be fine. Hopefully Hogan progresses to challenge Capt for a starting roll.

Draft the best player available and thats Alshon Jeffery or Justin Blackmon. Im taking Alshon all day. He is Calvin Johnson v.2

I'd like to hope that one of the other QBs in the draft, Jones or Barkley, stays in school. That way if we should have the 2nd overall pick we can draft the one that comes out, and sell him to the highest bidder between Miami, Washington, Denver, and possibly Cleveland. Would garner at least another first round pick and a second, to go along with possibly getting our third back.

And i wouldnt have a problem with trading down in the second round, too.

Can Kalil not play LT? Gross is our LT now, but he is aging, and would probably be more valuable on the right side, and entrench Kalil at LT. That being said, is there any reason Kalil could not play LT in the NFL? I honestly don't know enough about him other than being the top OL on the board.... and Ryan's brother.

Depending on where we draft and who falls to us, I'd love to get Justin Blackmon. Believe me, I understand that we need talent on defense, but I really think this guy is the real deal. He just has a strange "it" factor about him, reminds me a lot of Jerry Rice. The real thing that scares me is that if Steve Smith goes down, we'd be starting LaFell, Nanee, Gettis (maybe), and a combo of Edwards and Pilares? None of those guys besides Gettis really has #1 potential, and he's coming off ACL surgery. Blackmon would give us an electric offense with Smith/Blackmon/Olsen/Shockey. I also know we've spent tons of picks on WR's over than past couple of years, but if we're in a position where Kalil and Claiborne are gone, I wouldn't lose sleep on picking him. If I had a big board, I'd have Blackmon #2 behind Luck, and ahead of Kalil.

That being said, I could see us take Kalil if Hurney feels like Otah is never going to be healthy. Beyond that, I like Morris Caliborne and would love if we could trade down for extra picks.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
