Panthers Cap Trouble, Link Of Contracts

I wanted to find a good website that outlined the current players and their contracts so I could decide exactly what is happening with our Cap room.

We have a lot of money tied up in mediocre players. But, I wanted to share this link, I think it helps understand some of what is going on.

On a positive note, we lose a lot of dead weight next year.

There is no way we are giving a Long Snapper 4 million+ per year. He made just over 1 million last year. That would be a crazy raise.

The yearly salaries look correct, it just looks like the total is a typo and it throws off the average.

First off remember that not every contract counts toward the cap. We will bring in 80 + players into camp but only so many of those count towards the cap, something like the top 53 until final roster cuts are made in August. Secondly, I don't get the worry as if it your money or the FO could restructure or extend more players if they wanted too sign someone else. The cap can be manipulated a number of ways.

Given Smith is a free agent in 2013 I expect to see an extension done in the next several months if not weeks. With that and the Wharton money which kicks in June 1st, and the (3) 500,000 credits we can take for three of the highest salary guys with 5 years experience in 2012, we should have more than enough to sign some guys if we want to do it.

pretty sure JJ Jansen gets 4 yr / 3.6 mil not 4 year /36 mil , although if the latter were the case, i'm sure there would be many more people ready to burn cap genius hurney at the stake......lol
