Sideline Scouting New Seven Round Mock

Recommended Posts

One of my least favorite mocks so far.

Just don't see us passing on Andre Branch, Zach Brown, Jayron Hosley (who they have going in the 3rd, which is a big fall for him).

I just do not buy it.

Alshon Jeffery in the 2nd would not be ideal IMO.

As far as players avaible at our picks.

Id rather see combos of Coples, Worthey or Cox, Hosley or Cox, Borwn, Basically any combo of these players besides Cox, and Worthy.

Not wild about the picks 4-7, but we always seem to draft people WE'VE(fans) never heard of or talked about before the draft. I'm scared Jeffery is Jarrett 2.0

No USC WR should ever be draft....applies to both east and west coast. Jeffrey won't get any separation in the NFL

Even if we take Cox with the first pick, I would still take Worthy over Jeffery if Worthy fell that far. Even the media knows we can be too homer for our own good? Jeffery can go be lazy and fat on some other team. I wouldn't take him in the 5th round, even if we somehow managed to trade next year's 7th round pick, Jimmy Clausen, and Rae Carruth's movie rights for an extra 5th.

I agree. I'd have no problem with Cox/Worthy in the 1st and 2cd. None whatsoever. Sorry, McClain and Fua showed very little to give me hope for them and the rest of our DT roster are just journeymen.

Absolutely agree. I think Jeffery is a serious problem. I don't know if he'll even be in the NFL within three years. He reminds me a lot of Mike Williams. (The Lions'/Seahawks' Mike Williams)

If we could land Cox in the first, and get one of the passrushers (Curry, Perry, Mercilus) in the 2nd, I would be so happy with the draft. As much as I'd like a CB in the 2nd, having a front four that's constantly causing pressure, then blitzing the LBs... That's a dream come true.

The DT class has really shuffled around this year, hasn't it? That seems like a red flag in itself.

Draft centric media, blogs, and whathaveyou shuffle and release new rankings and listings as much as they can to keep the viewers and clicks coming to keep the advertising revenue coming in.

I think people really forget that bloggers and media outlets do not represent what real scouts and teams are thinking. They have nothing in common in terms of motives.

I don't think we'll wait until the 4th to address CB.

I would not mind if I knew Hayward would be there. However, the Panthers think the deep areas of the draft are OL and WR. I imagine we will draft WR in the fourth.

However, when Hurney keeps talking about giving Cam Weapons....

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
