What QB great does Cam's stat's mirror almost perfectly ?

Im cool with spread and I realize thats where the NFL is heading, I believe the old school I-formation and the traditional play action pass schemes would be tremendous for Cam.

Lets say a team bites on the run, but its play action.. Cam rolls out. Cam has the running ability to cut it up field or run up the sideline. If coverd, the boss guns it downfield to an open reciever.

We are truely blessed to have a QB who has what you want in a great passer and runner. He could throw for 422 yards or he could run for a 70 yard TD. Obviously he has to grow into those atributes some, but the dude can play ball.

I hope Shula will impliment both spread and power formations on the regular. It would be great if we were really good at both.

I opened the thread and jumped to the sentence in bold. Then almost puked. Jim Kelly? OMG there couldn't be any QB with worse attitude than he had while he was playing. The man was a pompous a$$. Would throw his teammates under a passing bus, rarely gave credit for wins to others. And btw back then he was considered a "gun slinger". Glad Favre changed that definition.

What he had was Marv Levy, a Hall of Fame head coach, and Bill Polian as GM and a swarm of talent around him. If it wasn't for Frank Reich being his backup, the Bills would not have been as successful as they were. Every Bills fan knew it didn't take Kelly to win games.

There's no comparison for Cam Newton. None. Nada. Zero. He will be who he will be and we have the distinct pleasure of watching it happen.

This illustrates why Cam may be the most underrated player in the NFL.

His rookie season was so amazing that it made his 2nd season seem like a disappointment, when infact it was equally amazing given the challenges QB's encounter in their 2nd season.

I can't wait to see what year 3 looks like for this kid...

Actually, I did read the full article. Stats don't mean much and even less when you pick & choose what numbers are used. Comparisons mean even less.

Just giving a first-hand account of how Kelly was viewed by Bills fans. I don't get that Cam is thought of the same way by Panthers fans.

I don't jump, let alone to conclusions.

I know this is premature, but, even if Cam only averages his first two years. He will be HOF. He may fall a tad short in passing stats. But the rushing yards and total TDs, which is big by the way, will put him in a totally new category.

He is still the prototype. He will always be first to accomplish, or do, something amazing. Let's hope SBs are in his future, cuz if he wins some of those it will be hard to dispel his legacy.

Been a Lions fan a looooong time. Finally have a franchise QB. Still a crappy team. Been a Panther fan since day one. Have had 3 Franchise QBs, with their current one leading to a bright future. Talk about two sides of a coin.
