Is there a song that makes you tear up everytime you hear it?

I am an avid classic rock fan and for whatever reason Bob Seger's "Against the Wind" hits me pretty emotionally everytime I hear it. Not like I bawl or anything, but you know, just a good sad song. Such a fantastic song.

Anyone else have a song like that for them?

Classic rock definitely had it's share of sad songs, mostly in the 70s. The 50s had it's share but most of those were too cheesy to be tear inducing. Same with stuff like Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car"; depressing, but not tearful.

Of the 70s ones, "Run Joey Run" by David Geddes."Billy, Don't Be a Hero" by Paper Lace were definitely depression fests. As far as true tear jerkers though, I'd go with "Honey" (mentioned above), "Blind Man in the Bleachers" by Kenny Starr and "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphey (probably the saddest of the bunch).

But even those don't hold a candle to two modern songs...

The first one...

Don't remember posting in here last night... :phew:

But yes, two that get me almost every time are Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross.

DJ Sammy's Heaven, the "Candlelight Remix" version.

And then depending on the day, these will get to me every once in a while...

Eric Clapton's Tears In Heaven

Augustana's Boston

Gary Jules' Mad World

The Fray's How To Save A Life

Howie Day's Collide

James Blunt's You're Beautiful

John Legend's Ordinary People

Ed Sheeran's Small Bump and Give Me Love

Justin Nozuka's No Heaven, Lullaby, Save Him, and Oh Mamma

The Killers' Read My Mind

Matchbox 20's If You're Gone

Counting Crows' Holiday In Spain

Sarah McLachlan's In The Arms Of The Angels

Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars

Thriving Ivory's Angels On The Moon

Tracy Chapman's Fast Car

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
