Watch Afficianados

I don't really have a "thing" for them but I do sport a Breitling.

Made a promise with myself that if I sold a certain amount of stuff that year that I would buy one.

I made the final sale on Dec. 28th. Went to the store the next day.

Love the watch and have had it for 7 years now. Will hand it to my kid or a relative one day.

I'm looking to up my watch game and I'm willing to spend up to $500. Suggestions?

P.S. I'm mainly upgrading for business reasons.

I've had this watch for about six months now. I like it a lot. It works in business and casual settings.

I personally can't justify spending on a watch what I would otherwise spend on a car, but I do like watches. I just treat them the same way I do a bottle of wine. That is to say, up to a certain point, I can justify the expense in that there is a material difference in quality. And anything above that point, you're just spending more to show off.

I have a Citizen Eco-Drive that is my every day. It was my high school graduation present, and is still going 10 years later (hot damn, it's been 10 years?):

I got this one on a whim. I like it's elegant simplicity, like a Fossil watch. Really I just got it to test out if I would like a watch with a brown leather strap. And until you get close enough to see it's imitation leather, you'd never guess it was $20 at Target.

Oh, and I can't forget my Invicta that my special lady got me for my first birthday present when we were dating:

And part of the reason I'm testing out if I like a leather band is because I have my heart set on a watch from this guy's collection of WWII-themed pilot's watches. Maybe for my wedding present, or for a big promotion. Something like this:

But even so, the price range on most of his are less than $1000. He also is toying with the idea of turning WWII dog tags into a watch face, so you can wear your grandpa's tags on your wrist.

Own a Tag Aquaracer and a Citizen SkyHawk.  Looking to step up to this soon:

And then maybe this in a few years:

Rolex_Yacht-Master_II_steel_standing_LG.

I want the Submariner in that color combination, but they only have it in platinum and not SS.  $18K for the YMII v. $30+ for the Submariner in that color scheme.

I like it. Now I want one.

For the people here, which do you prefer:

a) Leather Strap (If so which color)

b) Bracelet Strap (Silver/black)

I'm a black leather guy.

I don't like the leather bands for some reason. I have a Samsung Gear 2 that I alternate with my Citizen Eco-Drive. If I can find a pic of it I'll share it.

I'm looking for a new watch now. I want something sleek and sporty, but still kind of dressy. I can't afford more of the watches I want.

What are 'business reasons'?

Needs to look good/stylish/important in front of clients?

For 500, not sure what you can do, but I would look for a used Breitling on electronic bay dot com.

I've had one for 6-7 years (bought new) and absolutely love their watches.
