For those griping about the Panthers not drafting any secondary help...

The Panthers went to the Superbowl with Terry Cousin and Reggie Howard as their starting CBs. They had the best D-Line in football that year. Why not try that formula again? Gettleman is banking on pass rush to make the secondary look good. And why not, it works. That is all.

the key to this will become our LB's. because for teams to compete with this front, they will have to make quick short passes as well as the use of screen passes. it will be critical for carolina not to over penetrate and get beat by a screen pass.

B/c the rules changed. Our corners today can't rape WRs like we did in 2003.

Pass rush aids a secondary....however, last year we generated the most pressure per snap and QBs had the best pass comp % against us even with that.

Did you see the Seattle Seahawks secondary? Those guys are the most aggressive in the entire league, even beyond the new rules.

Good thing we have the best MLB in the game.

The rules haven't changed; they're just called more consistently.

Norman and Thomas have the tools be good CB's. DJ Moore and Munnerlyn are some of the best slot CB's in the game. Florence is a seasoned veteran who probably isn't so good anymore considering our front 7 should be insane this year he should probably be able to take advantage of that. I'm not worried.

sure they have...you simply can't do what we did in 2003 today. Need better talent now b/c of how games are called in the secondary

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
