Vanilla Offense in Preseason

Recommended Posts

So what is the difference between other teams who are running vanilla game-plans and having success vs the Panthers who are also running the same vanilla plays and are doing jack-squat.

Shhh. They don't like realist around here. Don't you know we aren't trying as hard as other teams.

I will reserve any opinions until the rubber hits the road. Can they pull their collective heads out of arz in two weeks? I don't know why they are not executing , is it talent? Is it coaching? Vanilla preseason mean nothing games? We will know sept 8 what the truth is, until then its all speculation on what they are going to be.

Lack of talent on the O line and lack of talented depth. Also lack of talent in the secondary.

They have the talent to successfully run their basic plays?

And, a lot of teams basic stuff is more aggressive in nature....and that helps them a lot in preseason ball

The offense reminds me of the one we saw in the 2010 preseason, and so do the comments about it.  The difference now is that we have Cam Newton instead of Matt Moore, which is a serious upgrade.  We also have Mike Shula instead of Jeff Davidson, which may or may not be...

The offense we've seen in the preseason is not a good example of what we'll see in the regular season imo. Here is my guess as to what our offense will look like in the regular season. Remember last season? Increase the number of read option runs and designed QB runs, and throw in a lot of screen plays to our new scat back, and mix in some play action with deep passes. RR is not insane, he's not going to run the garbage we're seeing this preseason. If he does then expect RR and the rest of the coaching staff to be fired after we have a losing season. RR is going to use Cams legs to try and keep his job, and we'd all do the same.
