Trading Hardy is so logical its almost common sense.

All these arguments on why we should extend Hardy are the same exact arguments I heard before we extended Stewie. "With our injury history im glad we have depth at RB with two studs." Or "Having two studs at the same position is always great." Or "You always need to extend and sign your own and you cant afford to let playmakers walk."

Same exact things I was hearing when we signed Stewie. Its all about balance! Ok say we Hardy doesnt have trade value, fine. I still say you let him walk for the fact we will have to re sign Cam and Kuechly.

Got ya but no one in the leage will part with anything more than a fifth(and that is probally out of the question) for Hardy.

It is just how the NFL works. It is not that he is not worth it just no one parts with picks like Hurney did.

I actually agree that if Hardy wants huge money the way to do it(business wise) is to let him walk. He was a 6th round guy and DE's fall all the time.

If he is rational for market value that DEs are at right now then it is a great move. DE's have longer shelf lives than Lbers and HBs so a good value extention makes sense.

The difference is that DE's are on the field at the same time. RB's are not. Giving money to two guys who play the same position rotationally is a lot different than two guys that play the same position in tandem.

Lol at no team willing to give up a fifth for Greg hardy. There's my laugh for the day.

But no, don't trade him. When the defense has been onstage field for an extended drive and we can sub in a fresh rusher like Alexander against a tired LT, you all will see why it's great to have a roster full of pass rushers.

Yes, and if we are not going to put $ in DBs, we need 3-4 DEs who can get after the QB on a high level.

Look at what the pressure did to Flacco, normally very safe with the football. Look how many INTs we have--more in preseason than all of 2013 (probably an exaggeration, but stay with me).

How do you beat Brees and Ryan?  Not with CBs--these qbs are deadly accurate.  You do it with pressure--make them force throws and move around in the pocket.

Hardy, Alexander, Johnson, and maybe Addison or Horton--that is a tough tandem.

Colts kept Freeney and Mathis together for a VERY long time and it eventually paid off. Now if Short and Star turn out to be as good as we think they can be then i dont know how manage to pay everybody down the road but im thinkin the reason why Getts doubled up is because he thinks we can win a championship within the next 4 years and wanted to maximize the D line now so letting Hardy go would kinda of throw a unwanted wrench in that plan.

Trading Hardy? Comparing two studs pass rushers in a passing league with two RB in a.... Yes passing league? WTF

Hell if we could I would rather pay Hardy, Johnson AND a 3rd stud DE the money we are paying D-Will and Stev. You cant get enough pass rushers in the modern NFL. Great rushers also save you a lot of money in the secondary as you can plug scrubs in more or less and succeed.

No position other than QB impact the game more than a DE! Pay the man and we wont have to worry about the D-line for years.

A player in final year of their contract would net a fifth...maybe? Firstly the Panther would not do it but no one is offering this is my point.

Good job not understanding the point...

Trading Hardy is a stupid idea. Assuming the defense will be fine with out him is also illogical. The philosophy of building your team is to draft and develop your own players. You don't trade your one of maybe 2-3 players of the last 3 drafts that actually panned out just because he happens to be an awesome player.

Everyone likes to think they are genius because trading Hardy seems like such a great move. Well with the way CJ plays the game and his past shoulder injuries I would expect to him miss time about every year with some sort of sprain or shoulder problem. Johnson plays the game like Hardy but he does not have the ability and the build that Hardy does. Hardy could be better than Johnson, he is not even in his prime. Not only that but this defensive line could be the best in team history. Alexander isn't ready to take his place.

This like trading Steve Smith after the 2003 season. I'd rather get rid of Beason, Stewart, and maybe even  Deangelo before letting Hardy walk. It also helps that Hardy brings attitude and an egotistical pride that this team has lacked for years.

I'd rather keep the dude BUT you really should bring him in, discuss a contract extension and see where you are

If he wants eighty gazillion dollars, and there's no possible way you keep him, then trading him mid season for a kings ransom of draft picks is better than letting him walk for nothing

you really should NOT let him hit free agency, where you have to outbid 31 other teams. Either extend him while he's under contract or go ahead and get a good deal in trade. Of course we could franchise him and delay this situation for a year.
