Which scares you the most the OL or Shula calling plays?

in the preseason game with the Eagles near the end of the game, we had the ball on about the 8 yd line. There was about 4 minutes left in the game and we were down 5 points. shula calls for a run up the middle for no gain.

Why, in any kind of competition, would you not let your players compete. With nothing to lose and everything to gain in attitude and experience?.These are the youngsters on the bubble trying to show out. I do not like that kinda loser attitude from a coach. It's like he is saying, if I lose by by only 5 points it won't look so bad on me rather than letting these 3rd stringers take a chance.

Well you answered the problem right there...

Wait, wasn't everyone just saying they are trying to showcase Clausen for a trade. Seems like a great situation to do that in. Yet a run up the gut? Weird. Its almost like thats just his preferred strategy and silly excuses are not valid.

Everyone?

How about we wait until the regular season before we judge anyone's play calling.

Playcalling should change with personnel, hopefully.

yes, playcalling should change with personnel....and the situation as a whole, which it didn't with chud.

i think shula will try to do it, but i don't know about the quality if the decisions made or about the speed in making them. seeing him keep trying to run williams up the middle wasn't encouraging, tho. i had flashbacks of foster being used as a powerback on the goalline and bouncing backwards three downs and having to settle for a field goal.

it really is tough to grade play calling in the preseason because you can't really be sure what the

coaches are trying too work on..............since it is practice.

    • This is one of my key concerns lost in the sauce that is the neverending conversation about him evading pressure and the OL. Eventually any QB is going to have to step up into the pocket and show the defense they can still beat them even if they get through. We have a limited QB who cannot consistently do this and as such we are relegated to going back and forth about how successful he was at evading pressure but we have little else to write home about. Tyler Shough stepped up into the pocket and made plays despite being pressured and sacked. He's played in about 35 less games than Bryce Young. That is a problem. And isn't just going to go away. The Bucs are going to do the same thing after watching the film.
    • Oh, absolutely! That doesn't absolve the absolute dogshit hockey that the team played in front of him, though. Only Cane that played well tonight was Bradly Nadeau.
    • Thanks for illustrating my point.  No one in the last several pages of this discussion is suggesting we should hang on to him, but anytime someone says anything less than "take him out back and shoot him" you act like they are. That's either you not understanding what you're reading or just being a nimrod because you can't keep up. (I would have said 'or just sh-tposting' but you're way too emotional on this topic for that) Either way, the result is the same 😆
