Thomas will remain as starting Corner

I want to give Norman a shot to start, but this is not the week. The vast majority of Manuel's passes were short dinks. Tons of screens, throws in the flats, crossing routes, slants. Norman is notorious for refusing to play on his man, and giving a big cushion even when it's not called for by the playcall. I don't know why he does it, maybe he thinks it helps him make a play, but when the opponent's passing offense is based around the short ball, it just doesn't work. For reference watch the Bears game from last year when Cutler picked on our cushions about 8 times in a row on slants and drove down the field.

That was last season. During the preseason game a few weeks ago, Norman helped shut Cutler down.

Refusing to play on his man?!?!?

Do you have a quote or any evidence to suggest the coaches told him to play up and he refused to?

Unless Norman just doesnt know the playbook which I highly doubt the plays and game plan dictate the cushion / press etc.

So any quotes from Rivera saying Norman was playing wrong or out of position? Or Norman saying he messed up the play and didnt play the right coverage?

One play in a game sure. But after that the coaches would be in his ear and ass. So I cant see a sane player that wanted to play CONTINUE to play the wrong coverage.

When will Hogan be back? Kidding.

As of week one we have a secondary that doesn't make plays in the secondary. I wonder if Norman is looking terrible in practice with run support? Turns out the areas where fans thought we would be weak are exactly where we're weak. Whodathunkit.

One-Fitty-eight-poin-three, aka 158.3.  'Splain dat.

If Revis shuts down his man in man coverage all day aside from one TD pass that will also be a 158.3. Did that mean Revis had a bad game?

Thomas does his job on short/intermediate routes in zone or man press coverage. But he lacks catch up speed for deep man coverage.

So he should never NOT have a safety helping him deep. This was very much on Rivera as he was outsmarted by the Seattle coaches (first sending your fastest guy deep and on the next play send one almost as fast, with better hand, working on the same corner with deep coverage limitations).

Dude chill out! You really think Moore & White will do better? I highly doubt that. It's no secret to any real Panther fan our secondary was gonna be a weak spot for us so why is everyone acting so surprised. Thomas didn't do that bad, Captain I would just keep him in the slot bless his heart he gives full effort just to small & limited in what he can do. I would love to see Norman out their & sooner or later he will be probably just has to show some consistency. For all Norman's INT in preseason he probably gambles & gets burnt a lot as well.

i wouldn't panic yet although there's some worries in the secondary i don't think either Thomas or captain played that bad until that last drive with 5mins left and Thomas go ahead td, captain for the most part look like he got beat in zone not man, in part had something to do more with Wilson extending plays then captain sucking it up, i think that goes for both cb still would like to see Norman on 3rd down cause that's definitely not captains strong point but i've got to see more from the two before i could say they suck we will see sunday for sure

    • I honestly wish Julius Peppers had gotten sick of some of Steve's bullshit and put him on his ass. Because I honestly think that was the one guy Steve wanted no part of.
    • Just worry about it next year.  Its that simple honestly.  its way to early to do what ifs.  I could see us trade/cut chuba and retain dowdle, I could see them let dowdle walk and go with Chuba/Etienne and Brooks, and I could see Dowdle and Chuba both stay and see what happens.  Hell, we still have 6 games left THIS season plus possible post-season...what if Rico or Chuba have an ACL tear or severe injury.  I DO NOT want that to happen, but stuff like that does happen.  Remember RB is the most injury prone position in the NFL due to the beating their bodies take so having some extra guys is never bad, just wish it hadn't come at the cost we paid to get him.
    • I think it’s cool that no one can be really certain what the outcome will be.  That’s a lot of progress! This is a real opportunity for us, I’d be happy with a competitive game and thrilled if we sack up for a W.
