Smith talks about Newton

For those who don't read the articles...it is worth noting Smith says this is not a Cam issue or a QB issue. All young players press. They want to make plays and help teams struggling.

In fact I think Smith has pressed late in his career. His WR comments reminded me of his play on recent years when he would fight too long on plays and fumbled a tad more than usual

Cam is on a team and is COACH BY ken Dorsey. Wtf did anyone expect? It's pathetic. Tom Brady and Manning and Rogers are already more qualified than Dorsey. He should be coaching at a D3 college but no he gets to do his internship with us.

Then we give Shula, king of the not knowing match ups offensive coordinator. Someone's tossing the game somewhere.

to do what?  Play in and NFL game and win NFL championships?  Yes, true.  Coach?  We don't know.  All of them are still playing, and none of them have coached on any significant level.

Just because someone didn't have the physical tools to be a great player, doesn't mean they are a bad coach.  The opposite is also true, eg Mike Singletary.

Playing and coaching are two very different skills, and many of the best coaches were players who weren't very good.  I don't know anything about Dorsey as a coach, so I'm not going to judge him either way.

Most coaches never played in the NFL. Dorsey did. Being a good coach has nothing to do with being a good player.

You'd think this team lost by 30 and Cam threw 5 INTs with all those opinions going around.

I ain't never seen you round this parts stranger. Number one, we don't take kindly to losin. Number 2, we don't give a fug how much we lose by. Number 3 we lost to the fugging bills on a blown assignment in a game that never should been within reach for them.

Number 4, I really doubt your name is Cam or Kem.

Peyton practically is a coach now. He is an OC. He just occasionally has a boob interject

It seems that Cam had an introspective summer. He watched his youtube news conferences and has changed his dismeanor to "mature" to please others. It looks like he is not having fun with the game as he did the last 2 years. Cam is an awesome talent who seems to feed off of emotions. When he shuts down his emotions his game is off. I'd like to see the fun Cam who wears his emotions on his sleeve. That's when he's at his best. I'm sure winning would help a lot.

I'll agree he's his own OC, not a coach however.  There's a difference between being able to do something, and being able to teach someone else to do something.  Larry Bird was an awesome coach.  Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas, not so much.

Peyton has complete control over the game he's in, but he hasn't had to teach anyone else how to do that, yet.

    • I'll say 6. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition and will do more to help the defense than anyone. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole there. For all the hype surrounding Sanders and Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
    • 2010 was worse. Not much worse but worse.
    • Lol since 2017 the Panthers are 47-85,    Also since 2017 the Giants are 40-91-1   Lol
