Ranking the Panthers - Week 5

The rankings quickly show the Panthers have the 3rd highest ranked defense in the league. Unfortunately, they also show the Panthers have one of the worst offenses in the league.

Week 5

Offense

Yards per game - 24th No Change

Points per game - 27th -10

Total Plays - 28th -15

Defense

Yards per game - 3rd +7

Points per game - 3rd +1

3rd down % - 15th +2

It is easy to get bogged down into the minutia of games, concentrating too much on smaller things that only add to the big picture. It is helpful to step back once in a while and look from an impartial birds eye view.

This week it is clear that the Panthers are a defensive ball club being held back by a lackluster offense.

I'm usually try not to be negative. But why in the heck did we hand the offense over to Shula! Just look at his track record. He was never good at conducting a good offense

There are several posters on this message board who will be more than willing to tell you why Shula is the best possible decision.  They certainly defended his selection before the season, so I'm sure they'll now be able to tell you how the Giants game proved that he's a genius, provided the players execute of course!

Rivera promoted Shula because it was the "safe" thing to do.  Now Rivera's job is in danger, the season is in danger of being on the brink of meaningless, and the team is in danger of being blown the hell up.

    • He talks way too much about his time in Seattle and Russell Wilson and how they built that team in 2012.   I won’t fall for any of it until I see them play for a year
    • Lol people like you are so silly and the only reason I seem to care to log on to post these days. How can you sit there and say Bryce was the reason Williams hurt his knee on that play. Maybe it's because you dislike Bryce so you are somewhat blind as to what actually happened? Not quite sure but maybe you should get your eyes checked. Williams hurt himself by trying to make a cut after spinning around to make that catch. Pause it at 3:24. Had he landed and ran like normal instead of going to plant his foot in the ground and make a cut he doesn't get hurt. Don't put that on Bryce. That was 100% Williams fault he got injured
