So...I have this job opportunity in Santa Fe and was wondering if any of you huddlers had been there, lived there, etc.  I'm starting looking into things area wise but haven't really considered the the location before.  

 

Seems like a cool place from what I've read.  Young population, cool culture, good music scene, great mountain biking.

 

Anyone been/lived there before?

it's been a long, long time. i preferred it over albuquerque or gallup or anywhere else in NM to be honest... the state has a reputation of being dusty and barren and hot, but santa fe is tucked pretty nicely near a bunch of mountains and green forests and lakes (reservoirs, really) and national parks.

 

i'd be jealous, i haven't been out there for almost 15 years now.

Travel down through there every year. Santa Fe has a strong cultural background if you're into Hispanic/Native American arts and music. It's becoming a bit of a tourist trap as of late, but you're only an hour's drive from ABQ.

 

If you're into the outdoors, there's some awesome sightseeing/hiking/biking/etc on the city's northern fringes and beyond. I took a detour once to get back to Colorado, trying to stay off the interstate, and got lost north of Santa Fe. Best detour I've ever been on.

 

The rest of NM is a dump. Supposedly some nice areas outside of Silver City in East Central NM but I haven't been there yet.

I have a good friend from ABQ. He hates Santa Fe, for some of the same reasons OP finds positive. (what he calls hipster yuppie scum)

He calls it a place in the middle of nothing where everybody ran out of gas at the same time.

I've never been, but it does seem like a good place to visit at least.

I've been thru there several times and absolutely dig it. I'm not a desert person at all, but in a lot of respects it reminds me of Flagstaff, AZ, except just not as high up in the clouds.

I've been, New Mexico as a whole is just really fuxxing strange honestly. Like the people, architecture, the way things are done... It's just really offbeat and weird to outsiders I guess.

 

With that said, I spent two weeks hiking a little northeast of Santa Fe, and the area is incredible. Once you get out of the barren desert into the greener areas, it's gorgeous and just really pristine and refreshing.

      We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.

      I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.

      Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
