"The Panthers have the best front 7 in football!" STFU

Can the national media and even fellow Panthers fans get past this? It's selling us so short. How could someone see that game yesterday and not come away with the opinion that the Panthers have the best DEFENSE period? They don't have the best front 7, they have the best front 11. Mitchell, Mikell, Munnerlyn, Florence....these guys have played lights out this year too. Very reliable tackling, great pass defense; the team is 4th in pass defense now. Give the secondary their due. Are they as GOOD as the front 7? Probably not, the front 7 is playing at a Super Bowl/Hall of Fame level, but the guys in the secondary are absolutely good enough that you can call this entire defense the best in football.

2nd in yards allowed per game (Chiefs rank 10th, give up 44 yards per game more than us)

2nd in rush yards allowed per game

4th in pass yards allowed per game

2nd in points allowed per game at 12.8 (ahead of the '85 Bears at this point, best in franchise history)

1st in TDs allowed per game (We've only allowed 9 touchdowns all year. To put this in perspective, San Francisco/Baltimore/New Orleans are tied for 4th and have allowed *18* touchdowns, DOUBLE what we've allowed and they're still ranked that high)

This is a historic defense that is doing this at a time where scoring and offenses are higher than they've been since the early '60s. The Panthers have the best defense in the league. The Chiefs haven't played anyone.

I don't know that we have the best all around defense.  Statistically we have played quite well but so has KC and Seattle.  I think Seattle probably has the best all around D at this point, but I think it is really, really close.

I say we have a better front 7 and we can stop the run and pressure the QB better than them ..... That's a formula for a winning! Also a  good defense  travels well.

If we play the Seahawks in Seattle.......  I'm taking the Panthers and this Defense for the win in the playoff!

We just don't have a Revis or Sherman for them to hang their hats on. I've seen several shows saying our defense is second to Seattle. We have played a very similar schedule and have shown that we are the better defense. Only one less interception than "the legion of boom". Check your stat section ESPN talking heads and get back to me.

I would say they have better secondary players, but our front 7 is better. Our secondary is playing really solid ball.

I think our secondary is being underrated but I don't take any offense by this.

As well as the secondary has played, and they have, we've still got Brady and Brees twice.

They deserve props but they don't deserve to be crowned by any stretch yet.

The front 7 has shut down all running games, including Lynch, Peterson, and Gore/Kaepernick. That deserves props.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
