Bleacher Report:  8th- up from 12th last week

The Caolina Panthers have won five straight games. In those wins they've taken down the 49'ers, Atl, Tampa, St. Louis,  and Minny. Before their Week 10 victory over the 49'ers, it would have been easy to say the Panthers were beating up on bad teams. And then they took down the Niners in SF.

No, the Panthers aren't preying on bad teams: they're just a good team. A very good team, it turns out. They're able to win big, as they had scored over 30 points in each of their last four games before meeting the 49'ers. But they can win close, too, and that was evident in their 10-9 win over the Niners. On a day when Cam was human, the defense stepped up and took down a top NFL team.

The schedule doesn't get easier as the Panthers prepare to face the Patriots, New Orleans, Jets and then Saints again. But if the Panthers can remain consistent, they can make a push for the NFC South or a wild card spot

Question for you...

I am not a gambler per se, but I'm wondering if your bet is transferable? In other words, could you sell your 66-1 position to someone else based on it's increase in value?

And no, I'm not asking as a potential buyer. It just appears to be an interesting opportunity to make some risk-free money.

Absolutely.

If I wanted to ensure profit, I could sell it to someone else.  The place I made the bet won't transfer it, but could sell the rights to the winning for a profit.

I am not sure I would though. It would have to make sense that the amount I was selling it for was worth not riding out the bet to its finality.

I am sitting in really good position with the bet.

The problem is with a buyer.  gambling is about two things basically, math and money.  In order for me to sell the bet, you would have to pay me about the same as it would be to just make the bet itself at the current line.

What I would be more likely to do is sell a piece of the bet, get my money back, and be basically gambling for free or at a small profit already.

Let me give you an example.  It is a $100 dollar bet.  If I win, I will win $6,600.  If someone made the same $100 bet now, they would win $1400.  So now my original bet if nearly 5x more valuable.  I would only sell it for about $470 or so (unless I just wanted to ensure a little profit and maybe give someone a great deal).  But that doesn't really help the buyer.  He could just make the same bet with the bookie, so why even pay me?

However, let's say I offer to sell 50% of my ticket for $150.

I you were to bet $150 dollars at current odds you would only win $2,100.  If you buy from me, you can get $3,300 for the same price.  You are getting much better odds and bang for your buck.  So if the buyer accepted, I am now betting at an already $50 profit, and still have a chance at $3,300 if they win.  I basically got paid $50 bucks to gamble for $3,300!

That is a long answer, the short answer is yes, I could sell the bet if I wanted to, or just wanted to make a little money back.

* Bet on Panthers to win Super Bowl when it was at 66-1... sees odds move to 14-1...  faps *

Can't you cash out now theoretically by selling your bet at whatever the payout for 21-1 odds are or something like that? Or is it in your name period?

Nevermind, see some1 already asked the question.

NFL.com - 6th

For all the talk about Cam Newton, the guys on the other side of the ball have pushed this team to a 6-3 record. The Panthers were flat-out dominant at the 'Stick, making Colin Kaepernick look Quincy Carter-esque (I should tell those of you born in 2004 or later that that's not a flattering comparison.)

The 49ers gained all of 151 total yards, and the Panthers got stops on 11 of 13 third-down plays -- talk about getting off the field. Yes, defense still wins championships ... or regular-season games, at least.

I don't know how people can say if VD was healthy the Niners would have won.

VD was healthy at the start of the game. We played a healthy Niners team. Then the game began. Carolina plays physical football. Who's to say if we played them again Mitchell wouldn't do the same thing to VD and Tolbert wouldn't truck ER again.

Injuries happen it's football.

All the talking heads are just looking for an excuse as to why the Panthers went into Candlestick and beat the living crap out of the 49'ers offense.
