It's unfair that famous people get mourned over more than any of us ever will, but goddamn leave people alone that feel bad about it. Almost any loss of life is tragic and if people want to feel bad for a celebrity they never met in person then let them do it. It's perfectly harmless, seriously.

A Huddler's personal relationship with a friend, family member is quite different from a dude you watch on TV. no matter how dreamy he is..

I am just not sure why this celebrity death is so sacred.

Would the situation make a difference? If it was him overdosing on drugs? Suicide?

Now admittedly, I would be devastated if Harrison Ford dies in an auto-erotic accident in a closet....can you choose to make fun of the situation?..of course. Is he not someone's dad? Husband, Son? Of course he is but I do not know any of them....have at it.

Paul Walker, could have drove like the speed limit and lived...or made sure his friend would. I know he is someone's son, dad. However there is a celebrity disconnect that is open game IMO.

This does not equate to him dying of cancer or some unavoidable illness.

I love former Hornet SF Bobby Phills...I felt bad when he died bc I enjoyed him as a player. He could have controlled the outcome by not racing on Tyvola road. Although I was emotionally deflated as a diehard Hornet fan it had its emotional cap for me.

My regard for people i never knew or did not find entertaining does not increase bc of death. If his stuntman, who of course does most of the action scenes and driving sequences dies...are you mourning him? He made Paul Walker so cool to you apparently.

Of course, literally the day it happened, the RIP trolls started doing their thing. People who had never met the dude felt sadness that we lost a member of the community(which is natural, even if you never met someone personally or even knew they existed before they died, because someone's death is always sad). I may or may not have been personally affected by it, so I just ignored it like a normal functioning person. BUT, of course, people needed to point out basically what you are doing right now.

yea im one of those people who just says "damn, that sucks" when a celebrity dies and go about my business.

 

i dont get bothered by people who crack jokes. I dont really laugh, dont think it's really funny, but i really dont care. that is their prerogative.

 

the only celebrity i actually felt shaken from was james gandolfini. never met the dude, had really no idea who he was as a person besides what i had read from other people pre and post death. i had nothing invested in him as a person.

 

but i invested a lot of time and energy growing up watching the sopranos and his movies. so something about his death affected me in a way i've never experienced before.

 

from then on i never really judged people who felt emotional after a celebrity death. there is some sort of emotional connection to these people as actors because movies/tv shows do kind of play a big role in most people's lives. it's a strange thing.

It is always sad to see someone in the peak of life die an unexpected and needless death.

 

I believe if we can learn something from tragedies like this one, it gives the deceased's life greater meaning.

 

My take away from this tragedy is pretty much the same as it was for the football player who was blasting down the freeway in his BMW a week ago, killing himself and some other unfortunate driver that got in his way.

 

Public roads are designed for commuting not racing. 

 

If you want to race, find a track.  If you are a passenger and your driver wants to race, tell them to find a track.  If your driver doesn't want to listen to reason, tell them to let you out before they foolishly risk their life and the lives of everyone around them. 

 

The life you save may be your own and you can thank Mr. Walker for setting an example you can live by.

Agreed. Sometimes I think there is a higher power that wants to bestow life lessons on the masses. He was the star of a film franchise that glamorized reckless driving and elevated people who drive like idiots to superhero status. And he died because someone was driving like an idiot.

 

Now don't take this to mean that I think he deserved it. On the contrary. He's a victim of the culture he helped create, where an adrenaline rush behind the wheel is worth risking your life and the lives of others for. The 16-25 year old male driver mortality rate is already the highest by far out of any other demographic. And in part that's because of movies like Fast and the Furious, or rather because idiots think it's real, and cool, and there is no consequence to driving that way.

 

So take a young handsome star, build him up in the public eye as the face of dangerous driving, and then kill him in a car crash. Almost like someone is sending a message, no?

 

Paul Walker died for our sins.

 

I just hope the morons are paying attention so it won't happen again.
