Here is why we should absolutely root for the Seahawks tonight

Let's go through this.

SEAHAWKS WIN PROS:

- Moves us one step closer to winning the division which would give us a bye and a home game.

- It gives everyone a warm feeling in the loins when the Saints lose.

SEAHAWKS WIN CONS:

- Makes the chances of us winning homefield advantage throughout the playoffs even more remote.

- Might make the Saints more likely to win against us the following week (pissed off with something to prove, hard to imagine the Saints losing twice in a row)

Here is why those "cons" are bogus and if you think you're being smart by rooting for the Saints tonight, you're wrong.

1.) Homefield advantage is already gone. Counting tonight, the Seahawks have 5 games left:

NEW ORLEANS

@ San Francisco

@ NY Giants

ARIZONA

ST. LOUIS

The Seahawks have a 2 game lead on us right now plus the tiebreaker. That means we would have to win out and the Seahawks would have to go 0-5, 1-4, or 2-3 in these last 5 for us to gain homefield. The odds of that happening are extremely tiny, not much better than us hoping they go 0-4 or 1-3 after this week. No one knew it at the time, but DeAngelo fumbling in Week 1 cost us a chance at homefield advantage. Instead of being down by basically 3, we'd be a half game up (We would be 10-2 and the Seahawks 9-2) and we would own the tiebreaker.

2.) If you believe the Panthers are truly a Super Bowl team and are worthy of this 8 game winning streak, then you should have no fear about another team's mentality when they play us. Beating the Saints on the road next week is already going to be a difficult task going off stats: Drew Brees has never lost in the Superdome on Sunday Night Football. He's undefeated. We're already facing something that's supposed to be impossible. If the Saints lose tonight, Riverboat and the coaching staff can see what Seattle did successfully and see what kinds of wrinkles they can put into their own gameplan on Sunday night. Lesser teams are the ones that worry about another team's "mentality". If we're good enough to beat the Saints, then we're good enough to beat the Saints.

And I think we will.

Pro: Seattle and Carolina run a similar offense. Pound the rock and playaction your face. The Saints get to enjoy Beastmode tonight for 4 hours, then hope on a plane and fly half way across the country, take a day off and then start prepping for the Panthers run game this coming Sunday.

I hope Seattle bloodies their nose something fierce.

I still dont understand why we shOuld be rooting for NO......

only one reason and it is definitely a long shot.

Our only hope for Home Field Advantage throughout the playoffs are for Seattle to stumble.  Taking the lead over the taints in our division is in the players hands on the field.  For us to get HFA a lot of things have to happen.

FWIW, I am rooting for Seattle.

Yeah anyway you slice it in order for us to win the Division we need to sweep the saints regardless of the outcome of this game. Unless of course u think the Saints may lose to a terrible Rams team or Bucs team.

I watched STL and SF yesterday over Den/KC since it affected us. And I wouldn't feel confident relying on the Rams if we needed them to beat Jax let alone NO.

As for as tonight goes I hope both teams just beat the living poo out of each other.

I posted two days ago that when adding up all the pros/cons, that a Seahawks loss would be better. I changed my mind. While true that a Saints loss tonight only means something to us if they also lose to the Rams, that is quite possible. I'm pulling for the Seahawks tonight.

    • WR: Nico, Woods, Tank (R) TE: Schultz OL: Tunsil/Howard/Deiter/Mason/Fant vs. WR: Chark, Thielen, Mingo (R) TE: Hurst OL: Icky/Zavala (R)/Bozeman/Jensen (R)/Moton   Panthers' had the better OL before losing BC week 1 and AC week 4 which is kind of ironic considering how in the following year DB went down in W1 and Shaq in W4 resulting in the defense going all to Hell. CJ has done amazing in Houston, but he also wasn't asked to carry Zavala, Jensen, Mingo, Hurst, and Chark as a rookie.
    • Past 5 seasons, IMO CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow are the 2 best young QBs that have emerged in the league in that window.  They also didn’t need vets to be their primary pass catchers.  They helped fellow youngsters be great at WR.   almost all the other young QBs have been paired up with vets in their top options….and haven’t been as promising.  so it isn’t Madden.  But the league hasn’t played out as you suggest it does.   Good QBs make others around them better.
    • In 2023 their roster wasn’t stacked. They nailed the poo out of the 2023 draft and since they knew Davis Mills wasn’t the guy, they tanked properly to get pick 2. They also took Cleveland’s ridiculous offer for Watson unlike us with Burns. Houston received enough draft capital to jump up to 3 while picking up the right guys in Anderson and Stroud. The Texans were not stacked or better than us in 2023. They had 11 total wins from 2020 to 2022. They didn’t have a terrible front office so they made sure they got their QB of the future while tanking well and getting more draft picks. They are a textbook study of what we should have done in 2022/2023 offseason even though people in here still think tanking is a bad word and our culture would be bad if we were the Texans. We literally had the chance to be the Texans right now and fuged it up.
