McDermott will be gone

Recommended Posts

I would almost bet the bank that McDermott is gone.   This is a passing league and McDermott is one of the better minds when it comes to defending those teams.

His schemes are good and he makes great calls when they are needed most.

His resume will show that he can build a defense that went from 28th to #1 in 3 seasons.   Pretty impressive.  If he gets and offensive coordinator that knows how to put points up.  He is going to win a lot of games.

I will not be surprised if we lose him, hope we don't but not counting on him being here next season.

Yes, because Hardy, Johnson, Edwards, Lotulelei, Short, Davis, and Kuechly have nothing to do with that.

Of course they have something to do with it.  Don't you think that he had input on getting some of this talent in?  He has used the tools made available to him.  But I have said since we got McDermott that once he has the players that fit his scheme he was going to be good.

Do you think he won't assemble players that will fit his style.   The point is;  he built (with help from GM) a defense that #1.  Teams are going to see that.  They are going to believe he can build a team (offensively and defensively) based on what he did here.

If you want to talk about building a D, yea that's all Rivera. Scheming and planning, mostly Rivera with some McDermott input. On gameday, McDermott mostly choosing the playcalls with Rivera getting the final say. At least that's how I picture it. Rivera's defenses are always excellent no matter where he goes. Thus this logic. Rivera is a defensive minded HC. Thus this is Rivera's D.

I'd lose it if he took a job while the season was still on. Just what we need- him preparing his new team for next season while trying to close out a season here.

"Yeah Ron, I'll have some free time later, so I may swing down by the team office and start working up a gameplan."

Alright so the quotes hyperbole, but still.

    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
    • In fairness, she is ensuring she is talked about.  People really aren’t going out there way to bring her up.  It’s some weird poo.  She would end up getting talked about given her actions if she was 40. Bill realizing some of these high end “companions” got a game of their own.  That’s what I don’t think Bill saw coming.
