Based solely on today's loss.

Based solely on today's loss, what do you think is our biggest need in the off season?

Here is how I break it down.

The weakness at receiver was not as evident today.  I'm not even sure I remember any drops in this game.  Smith, Lafell, Ginn and Olsen all seemed to make plays today.

Not sure I'd blame Cam's sack on any of our guards or tackles.  Cam had plenty of time and it was our blocking backs and tight ends that could not hold their man.

I'm looking at our corners as our most glaring problem today.  Constantly were beat all day.  Kapernick didn't even have to scramble to make plays to his receivers.  Just straight up got beat.

And as many have said our play calling on offense is wanting.

i was impressed by the amount of time newton had in the pocket. if it wasn't for him getting beat up early in the game, he may have had the legs to make plays later in the game when no one was open.

something needs to be done about the run game. period.

no more patchwork secondary. what they did this season overall was commendable, but it's time for an over haul.

Oline, db, wr.

Oline needs personnel that match the teams philosophy. If this is a run first team, you need your oline to be a force, not merely adequate.

DB, defense is the best in the league once this gets fixed

WR, Ginn is improving but not a star, Lafell is essentially a skinny tight end praised for blocking but with bricks for hands. And 89, the best player this franchise has ever had, may be done. At most he has a year left.

I still think WR is #1, O line to me is good for the pure fact it was a patch job for much of the season, if we can get a healthy Oline...that is an area I think we will be fine at.  CB is #2 to me, we had great fill-ins this year but not a shut-down corner like we wanted.

100% WR.  Then secondary, then O-line.  If we don't address anything on the defensive side of the ball we'll still be a top 10 defense, and if thats what we gotta do to get some serious offensive firepower around Cam, then do it.

    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
    • It is due diligence at that point. Irresponsible not to take him.  Crossing my fingers on this one, he has everything you look for except experience.
