If Mitchell and/or Mikell cannot be retained...

If Godfrey's back, I think he and Mitchell will do well.  According to the cap simulator, we can save something like $7 million by cutting him...

I didn't think he was terrible.  He did make some plays.  Often times he was out of position because he was covering for another terrible safety we used to have.  Maybe he and Mitchell can do some good together so long as Mitchell is resigned.

Mitchell better be back! Lester has shown that he can play. I'm not sure why both Lester and Klein were given less opportunity down the stretch. Do I think Lester is a starter? Probably not but he def deserve more snaps than this. Lester has shown that he's already better than Godfrey fo sure tho.

But, this is why we should go with "Calvin Pryor" at no28.

If he gets the same amount of pressure Mitchell was afforded this year and can come back from the injury without major setback, Godfrey won't represent any drop off. That's a lot of "ifs" though. Really it will come down to $$$.

Lester is an unknown, but I'd be cautious to leave it up to an unknown.

Mitchell I fully believe he will stay here.  We gave him a chance, I'm sure he appreciates it and he was a pretty vocal leader on this defense.  Godfrey I'm not sure should have ever been converted to safety, he was a CB coming out of Iowa.  I would like to know how he is evaluated as a nickel back or something.

Lester blew the coverage on Boldin 50 yard catch and missed the tackle on Gore's 40 yard run...

I was thinking the same thing. However, he was a rookie coming into a playoff game bc of injury. I'll keep an open mind for one more season before deciding on him though.

He played pretty well though throughout the season.  May be wrong, but seems like he may have been dinged up, and also, he isn't the first Panther to have a bad playoff game.  It was a shame Mikel went down.

    • Uh... Bryce Young extension? This shouldn't even be remotely on the table right now.  Hell, the Texans haven't even engaged Stroud in an extension discussion yet and he's played miles better than Bryce has during their careers so far. I swear, he's going to show the bare minimum of improvement this year, the front office is going to say it's showing he's still getting better, and going to sign him to a stupidly large extension that is only going to set us back another 5+ years when he never even approaches being an above average QB and we have to replace him a few more years down the line.
    • Yeah I'm calling shenanigans on this. I get why people want this to be true but the truth is plainly right in front of us. Scott Fitterer was a god awful GM but at the end of the day the same guy that hired him gave Matt Rhule generational wealth because his wife made some tasty meatballs. The whole trade up to #1 reeked of David Tepper's desperation and his need to be in the headlines. He had mentioned that he spoke to Bryce months before the draft and directly intimated that he would like Bryce to be a Panther. And who was it that held a press conference where he did virtually 98% of the talking after firing Reich? I legitimately don't understand how one can come to a conclusion that the entire Bryce Young debacle was all Scott Fitterer. I mean one would have had to have recently had a stroke or some kind of brain injury to even begin to rationalize such. Not trying to be a dick but cmon.... If it was all Scott Fitterer then why did we spend two straight years after 2023 making absolutely no effort to bring in any competition in the QB room? Andy Dalton? Jack Plummer? And furthermore at the end of the day Dan Morgan is the GM because no other serious candidates were interested in the job. And why is that exactly? Hmmmmmm. And if Fitterer was the architect of the trade up and selection of Bryce Young and the Tepper's were just a couple of poor schlubs taken for a ride does hiring Scott Fitterer's right hand man and best friend sound like a well laid plan? None of this is even mentioning the fact that the 2024 draft was basically like Scott Fitterer never left. Yet people still aren't getting it? 🤨 This place is always amusing. That's what keeps bringing me back.
    • Play him on his 5th year. See if he starts/repeats the success. If he does, great, no problem with an extension. Just no Daniel Jones 1 hit wonder contract please.
