quarter life crisis?

Recommended Posts

I'll try to make a long story short, I turned 20 yesterday. normally I spend my birthdays having a big celebration or partying. All I could do yesterday was think about how fast the last 5-6 years of my life flew by. I feel like one day I'm just a stupid kid enjoying life and I wake up one day and I'm a 20 year old that needs to get a job, and go to school. I've literally wasted the last 3-4 years of my life. I've owned a car for 2 years but out of pure laziness I've delayed getting my drivers license. despite having jobs literally offered to me I've turned them down. I could go on for days.. Right before I turned 18 I was having an extremely rough time in life and once that passed I decided to take a few months just doing whatever I wanted. It was a terrible idea, I enjoyed relaxing and doing whatever I pleased so much it has put me in a rut for two years. I'm in a dead relationship that pretty much mirrors the rut I've been in.

So here I am at 3:30 am freaking the fug out wondering how I can get my life started.. I'm seriously thinking about packing my bags and just starting new somewhere. I need to make a change in life somehow...

if you're going to leave, do so traveling. expand your horizons, meet new people, have enriching conversations, fill your life with experience that may light some as yet unknown fire deep within you and give you some idea of what you want to do in life

also try to go to school at a local community college in the meantime if you can. get your core courses knocked out of the way for really cheap so when you decide to enroll in a university and pursue a degree you'll already have half your classes knocked out for absurdly cheap.

also consider leaving reidsville

Ok, so you're only planning on living to 80?

When I was on my way out of high school I had no idea what I wanted to be. If I was forced to go to school immediately then I would have ended up being a history or polisci major. I didn't start school until I was 25. I was way more mature and had already been through a lot in life.

I'm also from an old school mind of thinking. I don't really see any industry booming in NC. You may want to consider moving, if possible. Walmart in ND is hiring at $17.40/hr but I don't recommend that.

Advice?

For some reason, and I could be wrong, I remember asking you why you didn't have your license, a job, or why you weren't in school quite a long time ago.

You need to get off your ass and get moving.  It's Sunday, make the start tomorrow morning when you wake up.  Get to bed before midnight, set your alarm for 7:30 tomorrow, and start on the license, don't stop for one day until you have that in your hand.

As soon as you start that process, start looking for a job, any job close to where you live so you can start saving a little bit of money.  Speaking of, how do you eat, pay for clothes, afford electricity and water...etc?

It's summer time now, and I'm going to guess that you have a high school diploma, maybe I shouldn't, but whatever.  It's probably too late for first session of summer school, but you need to either look into school loans, or paying out of pocket for second session, and start your "core" classes at the local community college.  Some of us can help you with that if you will want us to.  The good thing about summer classes, is they are shorter, and the prof's don't want to be there any more than you, and you can knock a few not so fun classes out in just a few weeks.

After 2nd session, you need to commit to the fall and going to classes, don't wait for anyone to tell you, take the bull by the horns and commit.  Get a few semesters under your belt, and start looking at universities in state that would work for your budget, and figure out what you need to do to get there.

Don't wait a week, a month, or another quarter.  Get up and start preparing for your life, because one day you will wake up, and it won't be so easy and care free.

    • It's actually interesting you mention Richardson because I've seen it suggested here Bryce will have 500 or more rushing yards and 5-10 rushing touchdowns this year. And if big Anthony Richardson can get hurt carrying the rock what's that tell you about the practicality of thinking Bryce won't?
    • I mean, I get why the media and some NFL and Carolina fans are saying that we don't have a real chance, but as many Huddlers should know, we won't know what we really have in this team until probably late September or early October at the earliest. And I'm not trying to be a homer, I'm just looking at things historically. Obviously I'm also looking at Bryce's "palatable" improvement the last half of last season (including being the catalyst for hanging with and nearly beating the Super Bowl participants), and the new additions that we've acquired overall. I'm also looking at the beginnings of a culture change--even if perceptibly subtle--to some degree indeed may take a foothold if things start falling the right way. But, overall, I'm still cognizant of the realization that things could just go south and that perhaps that Bryce could revert and flop, or that D & D (Dan and Dave) are not the answer, but I still am not ready to say "we're far away." Hell we could be close, albeit with growing pains, but even if we're on the course to bring legit in 2026, then guys like Ramsey would be welcome additions this season. That's just my take on it. I don't think we'll know that we're far away until some point in the season. If we can compete in the South...who knows?
    • You guys remember when the narrative on here was that Bryce would be chronically injured in the NFL due to his size and Anthony Richardson would be super durable due to his? You remember when the narrative was that Bryce was physically incapable of throwing a ball further than 20 yards in the NFL? You remember “I’ll stop complaining when he throws for more than 200 yards and looks like an NFL quarterback”? You remember when 60 sacks was his fault and not the offensive line, slow WRs, and terrible scheme? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It will always be something for some people. Whatever insanity they come up with will be quickly dropped to move on to the next thing. Bryce could have an MVP Super Bowl winning season and they would complain that we can’t run the tush push with him. It will always be something.
