No yellow lines to mark the first down, no blue line on the line of scrimmage, no scrolling scores, no fantasy updates...

Did see the old Fox Box' showing the score, but there was a time when even that didn't exist. If you didn't know the score, you usually had to wait till commercial to find out what it was.

And yes, there was a time when football didn't have a 'telestrator'.

Kids today probably wonder how we ever watched games like that

Yeah the Time and score was a very nice addition. The yellow line was ok too. But station identification logos started getting bigger. Then the news ticker along the bottom. Then pop up commercials for the fall lineup. Some of the changes are so incredibly welcome. Like HD and better instant replay. But the commercials and sponsorships have really gotten out of control.

I was 22, watched the game with my Dallas fan roommate... He left in the 3rd qtr, I hurried & found a VHS that I wouldnt mind taping over. I got a heartfelt "Fug off.." when he got home & I put the rest of the game on for him....

    • I've been iffy on Canales till now but this season has put me in his corner. He certainly still has areas that need improvement, but I do believe he can be "the guy". Admittedly, what I had hoped for was a chance to see Canales with a different quarterback. That particular scenario now looks to be, at the very least, a few seasons away. Gotta say also that we'd be remiss to have an offseason discussion and not reference Dan Morgan and the front office. What I see from there (especially since the addition of Brandt Tilis) is starting to look pretty positive. Here's hoping...
    • He is certainly durable for his size I'll give him that. Whether or not he'll actually carve out a Doug Flutie kind of career remains to be seen. He has the benefit of playing in an era of the league that many former QB's would envy let's be honest. I think it really comes down to his desire to continue to overcome adversity and work on his craft. Whatever happens to conclude this season he will certainly be here next year and my hope is that he enters the upcoming offseason highly motivated to build on any progress he's made. The last thing we need is a repeat of the last 3 offseasons.
    • Yeah, don't ser how I missed that. Sorry, @Mr. Scot
