Steve Smith was going to retire after the 2014 season

Is anyone really surprised though at the lack of communication?

On one hand you have THE Panther in Steve Smith whom marches to the beat of his own fists-I-mean-drums. Did anyone watch the ESPN special about him where he spoke of his grandfather not telling the family that he had cancer until he passed? He had a profound impact on Smitty.

On the other hand, you have David Gettleman, a Bostonian who was a part of two New York Super Bowls. He was close to hanging it up as well until the Panthers came a-knockin'. His job was to build a team that could have back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in franchise history (as well as a Super Bowl) and be able to keep business business.

Yes....some of us are D.G fans. Finally have a guy that knows football and is actually doing what it takes to be a winning franchise for the long term.......unless you would rather have Bozo the clown back. And by the way.....if anyone has ever been to Shelby you would understand why a certain poster is so bitter.

Apples and oranges.

Ravens are renting an old WR. In Carolina 89 is something different. Ravens don't get all the same issues bc 89 hasn't been there a decade

they got  a wr who is anxious to prove something, the perfect storm for the Ravens and Smith.

We had an aging WR, who was allowed to beat to his own drum, who caused headaches

Ravens got an aging WR who wants to prove us wrong

Apples and oranges. 2 different dudes

As the victories were racking up last year and we witnessed the post-game game-ball presentations, chants and Rivera speeches, who was the one motherfukker we never saw on camera, joining in with the TEAM in victory?

SS#89 that's who.

Steve's a dick and will admit it if you ask him.  His time at FNZ revealed his true personality, goals and mindset.

He was NEVER going to mentor anybody (said so repeatedly), and considering his comments on the final numbers he wanted to reach had absolutely no intention of retiring after this season.

This is Steve Smith's last gift to us...a turd behind the couch.

For once,  we get to be on the other side of 89.       We get to cuss him out if he tries to start anything with any of our defenders..  Scream and shout for the refs to do something.

I'm actually a little anxious for it , the more I think about it.

Like when Hulk Hogan started wearing all black and joined n.W.o...and after years of cheering for him to win, I got to cheer for him to lose.
