Some of their names are a little funny (if not stale), like Buffalo Wings. But a few of them make some sense actually (Love the Arizona Scorpions). 

 

 

 

At this point it would seem a little odd to change the Panthers name, but you can't deny the historical and geographical meaning behind Mustangs.

 

 

1. Carolina Mustangs

 

 

On the sandy beaches of the Outer Banks, a coastal region in North Carolina,

wild Spanish mustangs roam free. It’s a sight to behold, as the majestic animals

have survived on this rugged terrain since originally being brought to the area by

European settlers. Naming the local professional football team after them makes

a lot more sense than picking a cat that can’t be found anywhere in Carolinas

simply because it’s sleek and powerful.

Because silly, giants are from New York but they only travel in Jets while Titans, according to classical literature, hail from the western side of the smokey mountains in the mid-atlantic region of what is now called Tennessee. Every mascot can be traced back to its specific geographical location. Hence the Carolina (cats that don't exist) Panthers.

The only one of those god-awful names that is decent is the Arizona Scorpions... that would be a bad-ass name for them - much stronger than the Cardinals.
