Say what you want, but the defensive backfield was looking a little lackadaisical (damn near suspect) before Norman came in.  Sure, Cason was lighting it up a little bit, but White was meh, and the safety play just wasn't cutting the mustard in my book. I remember yelling at the screen, "Damn, they need to do something...Put Norman in!"  Well when Norman was put in, the intensity of the backfield went up noticeably.  Of course when Davis reprimanded Norman and the kid didn't exactly act contrite---seemingly wasn't learning the lesson---I thought to myself, "This may be trouble." And so it was.  Norman needs to stay out of his own way.  As for these supposed bad plays on the field that some of you are suggesting, I didn't see them (not that I'm the best Xs and Os guy, but I am adept at analyzing the big picture).  

 

I will support Rivera and G-man, whatever they do in this situation, but there are consequences either way.  Perhaps there will be more compelling and competent replacements out there once final cuts start coming in. I don't know.  I just don't see them now.  But, Norman will be 27 years old this year.  It's past time to grow up.

Guys flying off the handle, losing their composure and getting dumb penalties was part of why we lost the playoff game against the Niners last year.

 

Rivera was boiling mad about that after the game, so I'm pretty sure that's not something he wants to see anyone doing this season.

 

To be fair though the 49ers were allowed to cheat pretty hard in that game. Im not a big fan of allowing one side to be physical and not the other.

Yep. Lester looked out of position and lost quite a few times last year, and it looks like there were a few blown coverages up the middle.

White did his thing, but really only after KC's third or fourth offensive possession. He wan't perfect. Bowe pushed him around a few times (as well as trucked him), and Donnie Avery may have gotten him once. I think that White settled down, mainly in the second quarter.

No player is perfect. Even the gray Luke missed a tackle last night. Compared to Thomas, White is an all-star. He had great run support, took good angles, got trucked but forces the receiver, out of bounds, and I thought played great coverage the entire game.

I don't think they were 'allowed' per se.

I just think they were better at knowing how to get away with it.

Norman is still a good player i would give him one last chance, calm down or go away.

Good leadership by Davis!

And Norman must NOT play against Smitty.. Cason and White will do the job.

There ain't no way you can have a player on your team that you can't put on the field vs. opposing players because you're scared they couldn't handle it mentally or emotionally.

In other words, if Norman continues to convince the coaches of exactly that, that he can't handle the game mentally or emotionally, then he gone.

i say keep him around. Patience is a virtue for a reason. If by the end of next game he is still acting like a bonehead then maybe consider cutting ties with him. Hate that he has tons of upside but every time he opens his mouth he plummets a little further. 

 

I was impressed with the play of Cason and White, after everyone settled down. Even Thomas made a few good plays. Secondary is looking promising.

Norman is a hothead, but I don't think he should be getting this treatment. Compared to Kevlin who drew a penalty, losing us points, it wasn't really a big deal. Actually on the subject of Kelvin he's starting to show a trend of a bit of dirty play.

 

I don't think TD fighting fire with fire helped the situation at all, neither sitting him every time he might make a penalty. Actually looking up Norman's penalties I could only find four total in his career.

Or maybe they just stole all the Refs glasses??? There could have been a class on how not to ref in the NFL that game and to say it did not effect the game would be to just lie.

      Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
