Kelvin Benjamin

He reminded us that he's still just a rookie. He had a horrible performance. A couple drops he should've had, some bad routes and the fumble that gave up a TD. Hope he can improve from this game by watching the tape but we can't ignore that he was pretty horrible today.

He had a terrible, terrible day.  But it wasn't completely terrible.   A lot of his bad plays were really close to being good plays.  In the fumble play, he made a great catch right before losing the ball.  In one of his drops, he made a great catch, but the defender ripped it away from him.  In the failed TD catch where he couldn't find the ball, he was still in a great position to make a play.  He still needs a lot of work, but he shouldn't be too bummed out about it.

Look, he IS a rookie but goddammit was he horrible today. There's no excuse for his performance. He should have been benched. If your head isn't in the game, then don't play. Benjamin let our offense down when we needed him the most.

He shouldn't have been benched and you're blowing it way out of proportion.  He had a bad game it happens.

Patience is a virtue.. he's a rookie and you should expect him to have a few stinkers his first two seasons. Once he hits his stride, he's going to be unstoppable, but not if we bench him every time he has a bad game, as it'll ruin his confidence.

Give him some time to develop. It'll pay huge dividends in the long run.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
