Have you seen Cam Newton lately?

I'd say only about 20% of the huddle actually knows this. The general NFL public probably less than 1%.

Not so concerned with talking head media idiots who haven't watched a single Panthers game but still think what they have to say about Cam Newton is not only relevant but correct  That crap gets out of control sometimes.

But when it comes to Panthers fans, if you've watched the games this year you should easily be able to see Newton is one of if not the most consistent players on the team and their recent struggles have little to nothing to do with him.  Swiss cheese defense and no running game had a much bigger role in their recent losses than anything Cam did.

It's also an easy season to overlook if all you see are final scores and fantasy stats. When Newton set rookie records, we built him up. When he sputtered as a sophomore, we tore him down.

I know this isn't the gist of the article, but I just get furious when people bring up his supposedly "sophomore slump". His numbers were damn near identical and had a better record that year.

If you don't believe The Block, believe "The Sneak."

Newton completed a nine-yard pass to Jerricho Cotchery at the Bears 12-yard line 46 seconds before halftime, with the Panthers trailing the Bears by 14. Instead of calling timeout, he rushed the Panthers to the line and gained three yards on a sneak. Then, with a first down in his pocket and 20 seconds left, he called timeout, saving the third so the Panthers could call plays up the middle if needed. Newton found Greg Olsen for a nine-yard touchdown on the next play.

That was a heady play, a Tom Brady-type play in a critical situation when his team needed a spark to stay in the game. It was another example of the complete Newton using his mind, arm, legs and guts to lead his team.

Very nice article, but what I will never understand is why people make such a big deal about how Cam dresses?  If he dressed like this,

people would be calling him a "thug" (to steal QCB's word).  I'd much rather have someone who dresses like that and represents the organization in a positive manner instead of someone who represents a pair of headphones.

So many people just don't want to see or believe this.  That's what's sad - allowing an agenda to get in the way of fugging facts.  He's getting it done, just needs to work on that deep ball.

Some people will cut off their own dicks to spite their wives.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
