RE: Anti-Cam Douchenozzles

Dexterity

Recommended Posts

I don't understand why this whole forum is ready to fire everyone, from JR all the way down to the guy that hoists the net on field goals, and everybody says "HELL YEAH!!". But if somebody simply critiques a part of Newtons game, or talks about his upcoming contract, it becomes so toxic. I really don't understand!

Who is talking about firing Luke??  The defense is in shambles, he is the QB of the defense.

But no one who talked poo about Luke would be taken seriously either.

It isn't a Cam thing.  There are several players that the majority of fans would defend

Don't believe me, go start a Luke Kuechly is a bust thread and see the reaction

so a guy that is completly right is being bashed because he isnt the cool kid dex?

he's got me cold on the first 4 years thing but he's cherry picking out of context quotes from another thread. If you want the whole story read the other topic. The only reason this is a thread is because Dexterity is begging for attention.

I am critical of Newton but generally think he is getting made to look bad but a piss poor OL and coaching and all the things generally discussed here. I don't believe he is not without some blame....but that is not the  point.

When I go out to watch a game, or any time it comes up with Panther fans outside of this forum I am the one defending him. Panther fans that I run into all hate him. Whatever the reason, right or wrong, he is generally not liked now. It's surprising.

The best thing to do is to spend the off season building the OL and giving him a legit WR option not #13.  Once that happens, if the play improves to elite level, pay the man.  However, do not give him a $120m deal based on the inferior play of others and excuses.  I think that is the plan, and it should be.  However, I am not going to proclaim him to be elite when other QBs with inferior line play have succeeded by getting the ball out of their hands in 2.8 seconds.  Someone mentioned Manning in the Super Bowl--basically illustrating what a bad line can do to you.  Good point, except for the "Super Bowl" part.  His left tackle was out for the season, he was on his third center, and he had a scrub RT.  Not just for the super bowl--all season, for the most part.

While we can all agree that Cam is no Manning, he has the potential to be even greater (based on his arm strength and athleticism).  That is what has fans here salivating over him.  Does he have a sense of entitlement?  Does he lack the acumen?  We can't tell yet, and that is sad.  4 years should be enough time to know what you have at QB without debate.  Not blaming Cam for that, but I am not ready to crown him either.

You guys need to seriously figure out a way to stop comparing Cam to Rodgers, Manning, Brady and Brees.

He is no where near the QB or leader that those guys are.

He is a gifted and rare athlete, who with good coaching, can become a very good QB.  But he has a ton of development to go on every facet of being a QB before he is even mentioned in the same breath as those guys.

the problem is once again comparing a 10+ year veteran GOAT qb to a guy entering his 4th year.

Cam is not gonna be petyon manning and tom brady. I doubt ever. those are rare. He still needs work and i bet he would have continued nicely from last year with a competent oline. That said i still believe this is an 8-8 team this year if rivera wasn't so fuging god awful.

i mean cam was killing it from the pocket until after the cinci game. so what happened? oh yea he was getting lit the fug up.

Derek Carr, a rookie for the 1-11 even larger dumpster fire Oakland Raiders has a higher completion percentage, 3 more TD, 1 less fumble, and the same number of interceptions on 77 more pass attempts.  His WR are James Jones, Andre Homes and Vincent Brown and a TE far less capable than Olsen. His oline is def better than ours so on to the next comparison.  A 74.4 rating.

Blake Bortles  for the 2-10 Jaguars with two fewer starts, has a higher completion percentage, 9 TD, 15 interceptions, but two less fumbles.  His rotating cast of injured WR include Cecil Shorts and two rookies, Allen Hurns and Marquise Lee, and a TE named Clay Harbor.  Sacked 34 times, two less than Cam, with two fewer games played, how's his protection?  A 72.2 rating

Compare Cam to Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Manning?  um no..  Compare him to dumpster fire teams with rookie QB's and you'll find more tangible evidence that actually aligns with exactly what it looks like on the field.  This isn't some goofie stat collection to support that Cam has been this bad, IMO the stats and eye test line up perfectly.

And......here is my issue.   It comes down to the money.

Are Cook and Cam trying to get paid like a top 5 QB?  My hunch says that they are, based on his "upside", and his records broken.

I want Cam here long term, but we are going to have to surround him with more expensive talent than you do for Brady and Manning, at least for the next 3-4 years while he masters the mental side of the position.  You will need cap space to do this.
