Duron Carter visiting Wednesday

Kuech the Sneak

Pretty much. He's 6'5 205 lbs and can play. He started at Ohio State but had character issues and eventually wound up at Alabama. But because of academic issues never played for Alabama.

So yeah, he's an idiot.

I didn't know it was possible to get booted from Alabama for academic issues. Is he literate?

@GoesslingESPN: Next up for Duron Carter -- a visit to the Panthers on Wednesday. He could still visit the 49ers, Browns and Titans after that.

Didn't see a thread so I thought I'd let people know, big time player in the cfl and is also a punt returner. Would be a great signing

i had started a thread saying we were listed as at team interested in him but never knew he was actually visiting

He can't officially sign with anyone until next month, and most assume he's all but guaranteed to go to the Vikings (for obvious reasons).

I'd love to see up pull a minor coup and grab him though.

He can be signed to a future contract right now, and that would lock him up for when he becomes available.

Jim Popp has a pretty good eye for talent.  He says the kid could blow up in the NFL, so I tend to take his word for it.  At the very least, he's worth a look.  Not like we're in the middle of the season now.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
