Better know a Prospect - Tyler Lockett

That stop n' go in the highlight video. WHAT A ROUTE!

That's the kind of thing that translates well in the NFL.

This could could certainly fit in well.

He fills KR/PR and would provide an insane compliment to Philly and KB.

It will be interesting to see his combine numbers, I would love to know just how fast the kid is.

Don't even have to watch.....it's the one on Verrett isn't it?

He does seem to run nice sudden routes, that's a plus.  I'd be interested in his vertical, it helps those short guys if they have a high vertical and can maintain concentration during the leap.  Didn't see much of that in the highlights.  I'd be happy with him in the mid rounds if we can't get Justin Hardy around the 3rd (or maybe even late 2nd with our pick if his stock rises).

Everybody loves speed and elusiveness, but a couple of the underrated skills I love to see in a return man are patience, field vision and solid understanding of blocking schemes.

This kid shows all of those.

In the one clip, you can see him actually directing a blocker.  Love to see that.

I would love Lockett but the panthers haven't shown any inclination of making this type of pick.  Just look at the receiving depth from last years draft... if we were ever going to take a late round receiver that was the time.  I think Gettleman values size at WR above all else and is satisfied with a guy like Philly in udfa to play in the slot.

Valid, but in the presser both Gettleman and Rivera talked a lot about speed.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
