""The last meeting we had as a team, all the guys, all the coaches, we were talking about how great teams win consistently and they build from the year they had before," LaFell said Tuesday during Super Bowl media day. "To break up the team the way they did, it was shocking.""

I got to hand it to Donald, he could have used this moment to throw the Panthers and DG under the bus, but instead he says he has no hard feelings.

I still wonder how he could have contributed in 2014, his Patriots stats were 74 catches for 953 yards and 7 TDs

Besides Gronk, Lafell is one of the few veteran WR for Brady to throw to. Lafell would have had a similar season if he was a Panther last season.

Cotchery was paid nearly half of what Lafell signed (3-year, 9 million.) on top of that, avant got close to 1 mil. So we roughly got two for one and we needed that money to sign rookie contracts.

Getting Smith off the roster saved 2 million last year but had he not been cut before June 1st his 2015 contract would have kicked in and been on the books for like 11 million.

In hindsight, it probably would have been better just to bring Lafell back but there must have obviously been some problems between him and Cam or Getts would have matched. Not that Lafell would have passed on the chance to play for a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Oh well. Concerning Ginn, no way he was worth to is or to his new team the contract he signed, but we do need a player with the type of ability he showed flashes of when he was a panther.

His targets increased (obviously due to scheme etc) but his yds/reception was not that great. His best yd/reception have been with Cam. If he was targeted more, he probably would have been having those high yardage seasons here in CAR.

Obviously DG is introducing the harsh business side of things to the panthers. Glad to see LaFell take the high road.

Lafell likes catching soft balls.

I have been looking but can't find an interview with LaFell, earlier in the 2014 season. He said something to the effect that Tom Brady threw a softer ball. I thought at the time he meant the velosity but after this Deflate Gate sitrtuation came up,it makes me wonder if that was the case.

Greats teams also don't overpay for average WR's....

Lafell wasn't overpayed. We just couldn't afford him.

The Lafell hate is so overwhelming and undeserving here that it is cringeworthy. He was a solid number 3 WR who was forced to be something better then he was. I'd of been fine if we kept him on the deal the Pats gave him. Unfortunately we had no cap room last offseason.

I dunno, Boner.  With Brady and those fast, small underneath WRs, it was a different game--he is a better fit in New England.
