How Did Brady Win Superbowl MVP over Malcolm Butler?

Seriously... I've been thinking about it since last night. If Butler doesn't make that play, the Pats have to get into FG range with less than 20 secs to go. He literally won them the game.

Is it because of when the voting closes? If so, they need to fix the system.

He went up against a defense that has been compared to the 85' Bears and went 37-50 for 325 yards and 4 TD's. The Pats also scored more points in the fourth quarter than the Seahawks had given up in the past 8 games combined.

The short answer: He's a QB and had a good game and a great 4th quarter to get his team back in it.

 

Then there's the conspiracy theories about getting him past Montana, etc.

 

Butler would have been a good choice, though. I think he had 3 pass break ups on that final drive, one being that Kearse catch that should have never been. Then he got redemption with the interception. Would have been a good story.

QB are on a pedestal, we all know that. And yes, he made a lot of plays to get them the win. But he also put them in a hole early with those two picks.

To me, the Butler pick is the make or break play of the game.

Offense, especially QB, always has more visibility. Butler had a very good game though, and was absolutely the defensive (if not overall) MVP.

Agree... Edelman made some insane plays and ran great routes all night.

Ultimately, it's a team game and a lot of offensive players played very well. Brady's throws were spot on most of the time though, back shoulder, front should, lob, bullet to the chest. He was on point.

Because one play does not an MVP make.  There's no question that Brady was the MVP of not only that game but of the entire Patriots franchise ever.

I get not wanting to give Brady the MVP, but Butler made just one play the whole game. Without Brady, they wouldn't even be in that spot for his play to matter. There were more deserving candidates than Butler for sure.

Even Brady's throw to Lane in the end zone was spot on right to him......wrong team, but perfect nonetheless.
