Panthers interested in bringing back Ted Ginn

Removing money from the equation since it's no guarantee that Cleveland would pay significantly more, why would he get cut in August? G-man says you use free agency to set up the draft, and securing a strong returner matches with the 'ace' philosophy and lets them look for a pure WR (or RB, DB, etc.) without worrying about returns. Plus he knows the offense and has been a productive receiver, a good complement to his return skills. If anything, his presence would make other receivers expendable.

He might get cut in august because theres a chance Gman goes HAM in the draft and FA and gets a few legitimate weapons. I said might. If we have a younger, cheaper version of Ginn i could see him being the odd man out. Kinda like the hair guy this past season. Like i said, may. Who knows what type of talent we will have at WR come august. All i know is we have some cap space and draft picks.

Definitely a possibility, but I don't think it's likely.  Regarding Tiquan Underwood (the hair guy), he got cut because he significantly underperformed, something I wouldn't expect out of Ginn. I think the team was counting on Underwood to be the 'speed guy' we were lacking and he was just too bad in camp to keep. Had he performed as expected, either as a reciever and/or returner, Bersin may not have made the roster (remembering that both Avant and Cotchery were around at the time).

Ginn isnt the best reciever, so if we bring in other talent thats better he could be the odd man out. Ginn is a solid return man. Thats where his value will be. Im confident we will bring in younger speed.

Something to remember, both gettleman and Rivera said that they need to take a hard look at keeping guys on the roster specifically for special teams , something that they have not been willing to do in the past. Even if we sign Ginn and draft a stud WR , Ginn will still have a spot on the team. He is a proven commodity.

Yep, Cleveland is the safer bet. More money, more playing time, bigger role, and family. Who knows with us? We may really like Oher so we opt to grab Strong in the first, then Agohlor (or whatever) in the second. Humphries in the third. I mean who really knows? If people fall we could go:

1st- DE

2nd- CB

3rd- OT

Then go on to draft a receiver late. Too unpredictable with the draft looming, and a deep receiving one at that.

Browns have a lot of cap room.

True, and they seem like they are willing to pay more to free agents off the street. Panthers will likely want a better deal than the $1.1m they paid him in 2013.

Little tip though. Sign him for 2 years, in case he's good again. Just a thought.
