Moving on from Manziel?

Rotoworld, citing Chris Mortensen and Peter King...

Just one year after taking Manziel with the No. 22 overall pick, the Browns appear to be throwing in the towel. "When they were putting together half of a new offensive staff, Manziel’s name barely even came up in conversation," Mort said. SI's Peter King chimed in Monday, saying Mort's take is 100 percent accurate and that Josh McCown in the "dominant talking point" in the organization. Furthermore, it's been confirmed the Browns were (and may still be) trying to trade for Sam Bradford. Manziel is coming out of rehab and entering a steep climb on the depth chart.

While I'm clearly not at all a fan of Manziel, I still have to question moving on from any young quarterback this quickly.

Of course, this is the Browns we're talking about.

Makes sense.

He is a fringe roster player at best and spent his rookie year partying like he was in college. They don't need to cut the guy, but accepting that you made a gigantic mistake and moving forward is a good idea. If he miraculously shows out in camp then good for all parties involved.

send him to the:

Eagles - Kelly recruited him hard to Oregon

Broncos - train a few years under The Forehead and then unleash Manziel-mania

Saints - run the option with Ingram and Spiller

Titans - he could become Johnny Nashville

Cowboys - they probably still love him in Texas. Jerry Jones wanted to draft him

Bills - because he and Rex together would be hilarous

Bucs - Famous Jameis and Johnny Football together would be even more hilarous

    • He’s also 21 years old. I don’t know why fiz is so eager to label him a bust
    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
