He won a lot of ball games, probably one of the best football players that ever attended Florida State, but he hurt himself off the field. The good news is that he’s young enough to get over that, ya know it? And he’s gotta do that. But he just can’t make those junior high school decisions that he made while he was in college."

Bobby "Boys will be boys" Bowden?  Who wrote a letter to a judge in defense of a serial rapist who was one of his former players?

Just cant let the guy enjoy his new professional career and clean slate for 5 minutes. Gonna hear how immature he is and past bad judgements till he does something controversial again. Typical procedure...where have we seen this before??

Yeah, who wasn't arrested for theft and investigated for rape during college? Leave that poor child alone!

Thou shalt not judge...and yes, I still find myself judging. Winston passes the eye-test. but he could turn out to be the next JaMarcuss Russell if he doesn't take his job seriously.

Winston thrived in a system that tolerates repeated instances of poor behavior as long as an individual has the talent to win football games on Friday and Saturday.

 

It says more about our society's misplaced priorities than it does JW.

 

The vast majority of college students behaving in a similar manner would have more than likely been expelled and possibly spent some time in jail.

      When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
