I think it's somewhat loaded. Bowden is an aw shucks guy but says things as they are. He said what he thought was accurate. Did not seek to hurt Winston. Just responded to a question.

Thou shalt not judge...and yes, I still find myself judging. Winston passes the eye-test. but he could turn out to be the next JaMarcuss Russell if he doesn't take his job seriously.

Winston thrived in a system that tolerates repeated instances of poor behavior as long as an individual has the talent to win football games on Friday and Saturday.

 

It says more about our society's misplaced priorities than it does JW.

 

The vast majority of college students behaving in a similar manner would have more than likely been expelled and possibly spent some time in jail.
