Fantasy Football Friday: OTA Winners

Just some more off-season fun.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess -  The Panthers website reported this week the rookie already knows all three receiver positions. We noted this with Dorsett above, as a big asset for rookie WR trying to make an immediate impact. Keep an eye on Funchess, as the Panthers don’t have a WR2 solidified behind Kelvin Benjamin.

That's my thought as well. But we'll have to let it play out. Optimism springs eternal in June and July.

Hope is for March April and May.  June and July are what tests a man.  To see if he really has the fortitude to make it with zero football.

From what I have seen in OTA's he will be much more versatile than Kelvin. He has more fluid motion, just more of an overall athlete. Kelvin has his size, but is rigid in his motion. Devin is a tall guy too, but as athletic as a NBA guard.

Also, you don't hear much about this, Devin is a really charismatic cat. Very likable and big personality. He will be a fan favorite once fans get to know him.

He seems quiet, but I see this point.  I mentioned that my son's family are all Ohio St grads as he was signing my son's mini helmet at OTAs and he stopped, looked up as if he was mad, and then grinned.  I always put it into perspective when I see a rookie at OTAs--they are under a lot of mental pressure, especially a WR learning 3 spots at one time.  Most will tell you that their minds are blown at that time, so any relaxed, joking approach to fans is almost surprising.

Since you all are wondering, "Hey MHS, what about the others?", who was the most relaxed rookie we ever talked to at OTAs? probably Deangelo.  The most intense?  Greg Hardy.   The most confused?  Armanti Edwards.

Did I inadvertently stumble into a time warp somewhere along the way, or have we still not had mini camp or training camp yet? Better than KB after OTA's? I can always count on the huddle for a laugh.

Between the two, I don't much care who would be listed as "better", because that would mean both are playing at a high level, which only serves to help us tremendously obviously.

But we don't know Kelvin's ceiling yet. If (and yes that's a big if obviously) KB cleans up those drops, look out. We know he is a smart guy, and he works hard, he knows just as much as the fans here do the impact and cost his drops had on our season last year. He does not appear to be taking that lightly, and we have no indication or reason to believe that he would.

At this point I just hope that they push each other to improve and play harder. I'm very glad to have them both.
